Clemson University Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

She absolutely can apply EA to Clemson and RD to Honors. One downside to that is that they say it is possible that all Honors spots may be filled after EA. My son graduated from Clemson Honors, and my daughter applied this year. I will say the application this year is much less intense than when he applied.

Thank you for clarifying!! She got it in yesterday and really wasn’t that bad of an application at all. So glad she just did it. It can be hard to do so so so many essays and supplementals. But it’s worth it at the end of the day.

My daughter applied last year TO, 3.8 unweighted and did not initially upload a resume or personal statement. When she was deferred, she did upload both and wrote the personal statement as a “why Clemson.” She got in for business after being deferred.

Does anyone know if housing selection date is still determined by date you apply? I know it was for last year’s cycle.

Yes I believe it is still by when you apply

Based on the past two years, it will likely come out on the 11th or 18th! It has been a Thursday evening the past two years in the middle of December. (I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the 11th.) Good luck with everything! My son is there now and he is in the Honors College. It has been a fantastic experience so far!

My son and daughter were both accepted to Clemson (Honors too) and they did not do the personal statement. (We are OOS.) Originally we thought that it was a place to explain something unusual on your application (slip in grades, etc)! I stressed a little bit after reading people say that it was important, but it had no impact on them. They both wrote the common app essay as well as the essay for Honors and that was it!

Thank you for that information. My daugher did not apply for honors, but ended up copying the personal statement from the Common App into the Clemson specific personal statement space just in case. If it turns out to be correct that they do not read the Common App personal statement unless applying for honors, at least they will have it in the Clemson questions.

Does anyone have the Edit Term button in their portal?

Would it be under “edit major” buttons? If so, my daughter doesn’t have one.

Nope. It disappeared. We had it last week and took a screenshot. What was the portal astrology about that again:)

It disappeared for my son today as well

I was looking through the old threads from last year and the prior year and there were mixed reviews. Some folks were saying the disappearance of the Edit Term button early was a good omen, although most of them reported it disappearing in early December and we are still a ways out from decisions being communicated.

It’s not there for either of my twins. Although we haven’t been checking enough to notice it was there before.

My daughters just disappeared for what its worth. Clemson is a bit of a reach for her so am not going to read too much into it.

Edit Term gone in my son’s portal as well. We need someone to confirm if there are any still present. Maybe they all disappear and come back, who knows, lol. Button Gate as they call it. In 2024, they seemed convinced that edit term gone early meant ea acceptance but it was closer to the December date as someone else mentioned. If everyone’s button is gone, it doesn’t seem like much of a tell.

We applied EA labor day weekend OOS and our edit term button is gone too

For some schools (and maybe all) the personal portals must be directly linked to the reading/meeting process. We have one school that said “under review” and now it is “under review under review”. Unfortunately all button gate does is show that the admission committee is working:) I would love to know the system behind the scenes. I assumed the decisions would be uploaded separately at a later stage, but maybe it is all connected on the same platform from the start.

My son‘s edit button is now gone as well. My daughter was accepted EA for 2024 and I remember her button disappearing too, but it was a bit later than now. She is now a sophomore at Clemson and living her best life.
