This answered so many questions. THANK YOU! I will have more Im sure as I think of them.
As parents we are planning to go and this one is my baby… but I am more excited for her than I am sad for me and therefore Im glad they separate the parents and kids. Definitely a way to kick off the near future.
My hope was that although she will know one student going in its actually one of her best friends since age 2, I want her to meet new friends as well. Our D24 and her bestie although going to the same school have already decided they will not be rooming together unless its in a suite with two others and they stay in a different room. Ive heard too many stories of friendships being ruined freshmen year bc you go in already a little too comfortable. Plus its so imporant that they make new connections. My D24 is VERY social though, since an early age she has went away to camps not knowing a soul and come back with having life long friendships. Its almost as if she thrives on situations where she knows no one.
As far as chemistry goes my child is an education major so hopefully this wont be something she will have to worry too much about. She had once considered nursing and I think the science classes is where she would have struggled the most.
Can confirm this is a similar amount to what a student from our school got last year with similar stats and an honors college acceptance. Expecting around this for my D which brings 4 year sticker close to 190k. Ouch. It’s her favorite but the reality of this is sinking in. She’s touring other schools in the next few weeks but may keep Clemson on the table to see if there is some crazy surprise in April. I wish they let you know sooner so we could open up the spot for someone else. Ugghhh.
If it makes you feel better, it won’t open a spot. They have formulas to figure out how any will accept or decline and offer admission to many more that they can admit (they all do) so it’s fine to wait and see.
I’m in the same boat… Clemson has been my dream school since middle school. I am thrilled with my acceptance and the mention of a merit scholarship, but based on the amounts OOS have gotten in the previous years I’m not expecting a lot. I too, have been looking more closely at other offers and have reconciled in my head that Clemson sadly may not be the best option monetarily.
