Class rank is definitely a big factor for Clemson. Tough to overcome as it varies so much. My son is in a competitive high school and is listening to the four kids in his BC Calc class who were accepted this morning. All in the top 10-15%, but none of them plan to attend. Laughing about how it is their safety school.
Well thatās not nice of them
Well to be fair, eavesdropping on their conversation probably isnāt either. Canāt control other people.

There were a couple in the thread above that sadly received denials
Thank you. My son had applied for Language & International business and All Business as his secondary.
For those admitted EA to nursing, what were your stats and if in-state vs OOS (if you donāt mind sharing)? My DD is a HS junior and interested in applying for nursing next year.
My son was denied, it was his biggest reach. It tells me they really focus on Class Rank as he is in the top half of one of the more competitive schools in MD. I would guess there were others from his school much higher ranked, his GPA was slightly below but I think class rank is a bigger factor at Clemson than most of these schools. OOS, TO, 3.71 UW and 4.1 W; good essay, good ECās, work both paid and volunteer.
Accepted to - Penn State Main, Pitt, Ole Miss, Delaware, and Coastal Carolina.
Deferred to - Auburn
I told him - you canāt tell yourself you really reached if you didnāt get a least one true denial!
DS Accepted OOS
Business Major
TO
4.23 weighted GPA
Global Program Three year track
Varsity football player 4 years
President of Clubs
Lifeguard
Deferred from Georgia In state
Deferred. 3.94 GPA, 9 College classes some linked to major with 4.0, TO, 2 Varsity sports, Leadership position, hundreds of svc hrs, college prep hs., pt job, several member associations in major. Clemson should not offer EA if they canāt review all the apps. I always believe they end up at the best place for them regardless.
Talked to several accepted. . . Clemson not their first choice so Iām sure RD will have spots for many of your deserving students.
While I believe the college experience is priceless, Iām seeing many job descriptions not require a degree, (obviously depending on type of career focus) starting to wonder if it will be illegal to even ask for one.
Best wishes to all these seniors who have worked so hard! I hope all their dreams come true.
Congrats on his acceptances! My sons stats are almost identical. Deferred for us but top 25% of class so you may be right. Accepted to UCF, USF and FAE - OOS. Still waiting on 6 more including his #1 so weāll see. I do believe they end up where they are intended to be
as of '23 there was a priority system - my son had a higher priority than his roommate, for example, so they used my sonās priority date to select dorm room.
I can only speak to the in state portion. In general, I think you need be at the palmetto scholar level to be competitive for nursing at Clemson. SAT 1370 and I donāt remember her exact GPA from her transcript but it was high. AP everything and didnāt take a light Senior load this year which some do.
Palmetto Girls State, Youth In Government leader, Beta club, several honor societies. Google Clemson nursing acceptance rateāit might shock you.
My kidās school does not do class rankings because it is a small private school and a majority of kids have very high stats. Do you know how Clemson deals with that scenario?
Congrats to yours on the acceptance. I have heard acceptance rates for nursing at Clemson is in the low single digits.
Even if your school doesnāt rank, the school profile often provides percentile bands. AOs can infer studentās approximate rank by comparing their GPA to the bands.
Did your DD submit her SAT or go test optional? What courses is she taking senior year? My daughter is already pushing for a lighter load for next year. She may need to rethink. Ugh.
Thank you, she takes after her mom, haha! This was her first choice and she begrudgingly only applied to 1 other schoolāaccepted at USC in pre-nursing with scholarship offer. And we were absolutely sweating bullets last night at 6pm I can assure you.
We submitted everything, blood samples, DNA, etcā¦haha!
Also AP and honors track. A rigorous schedule.
His SAT was 1330 and we just took it again but we did not submit to Clemson per our school counselor
Interesting- we were told that Clemson IS using application date for housing- although you do have to have a āroomate groupā in order to register for housing. So even if you applied as soon as the app opened on 8/1, if you donāt have a group you canāt register based on that date
