Hi,

Has anyone ever gone on a trip through the close up foundation? They sponser trips to Washington D.C. for high schoolers to learn about government. My school is organizing one, and I would like to go, but it’s kind of expensive so my parents and I both need more information. Does anyone have any experience with these programs?

Thanks!

My girlfriend went. What would you like to know?

My son went with his IB class to President Obama’s innauguration in 2013 and it was through EF Smithsonian travel - huge on high school trips. I think it’s like any other huge mega trip - if you are going for yourself and a personal experience about something that will mean a lot to you, you will get a lot out of it. If you are going becasue you think you are going to be close up and see things you’ll never see in person again, well, I wouldn’t count on that - you are there with a million other people and they probably paid as much or more than you did. It’s the experience of the trip and a memory maker but if it is difficult financially, I’m not sure the group trip would be worth it to you.
