No luck :(

so stoked! see you guys in atlanta.

I hope you all know how incredible it is to be a semifinalist. I saw some of the things past semifinalists who didn’t make it did, and was astounded. Regardless of how Coca-Cola judged your application, you are truly amazing and will go far in life!

What hotel do we stay at?

Geez…you think i would have either gotten an rejection email or post mail. I have received nothing. I guess I was just forgotten. Very sad really. They said they received everything, but I guess I was never even considered, or I’m sure I would have at least gotten a rejection email or snail mail. Neither.

So far, Kentucky had got only 3 people…

I’ve received neither. They said we would hear EITHER way and I know people in my state did get their rejections. You could have checked the website. There was a place to see which parts of your submissions were received. : )

Maybe try emailing them and asking why you received neither…? I know they reply to their emails pretty quickly.

@say true… I had checked, and Their website showed they received everything they needed to from me. I was all set. I even called and they verified that about a month ago. NOt sure why i never heard anything, but my name isn’t on the finalist list, so I guess that’s all I need anyway …that’s the way it goes. They’re very busy moving forward with the weekend for all you wonderful finalists! It will be so cool, i’m sure

FInalists, Have a ball, and do amazing things…we’re all so proud of you!

Oh, it’s okay. Just putting it out there for those that have this experience NEXT year. I heard back on a couple other scholarships and interviewed for any of three yesterday. I hope it turns out better!

Does anyone know if students and a parent go to Altanta. Assumed it was only students but talked with someone today who said parents are invited too and they attend some different events. That is the way it is for the Prudential Spirit of Community weekend, but they were very clear in finalist letter to say parents were invited and send travel forms to parents… so I assume Coke is students only. What do you hear?

Congrats everyone! I’m a finalist too.
Is anyone else here going to Yale’s Bulldog Days? Yale’s admit days are 13th - 15th while Coca Cola Scholars Weekend in Atlanta is the 14th - 17th, so I have a bit of a dilemma. Does anyone think it’d be a problem if I arrived in Atlanta on the 15th? I emailed Coca Cola, but they have yet to respond.

As I recall from last year, this is not for parents. Coca Cola pays for your airfare, hotel, etc. They keep you busy. Parents are discouraged from attending. As much as we wanted to “share in the celebration”, we wouldn’t have wanted to be hovering around the whole time anyway, and neither would our D. (Hint to parents…its time to practice letting go)

Does anyone (especially last year’s winners) know if the scholarship must be spent on Undergraduate or if it can be used for Graduate/medical school? Someone mentioned perhaps “deferring” it until graduate school but didn’t know what Coke’s rules are. Surely they have had winners before who have also won “free rides/merit scholarship” that cover the undergraduate expenses, so wonder if these kids loose the $ or it reduces their merit aid from colleges or if can defer for Graduate school. Thanks

They explain this to you in Atlanta, and you will be able to decide over the next several months. In the past, Coca Cola allowed you to defer for up to two years. I’m pretty sure that once you start, you receive the scholarship for four successive years.

hello, pleasse send me about the details of coco cola schloarships???plssssssss

My daughter won the coca cola scholarship last year.

If Coca Cola continues with the same policy they had last year…you will have 6 years to use the money. You can use it for undergrad or 2 years of graduate school. You can use some of it to purchase a laptop, attend a semester abroad etc.

Coca Cola was great at being flexible in the use of the money. You also don’t have to use the same amount each semester. You can use up to $2500 a year, all in one semester, split across semester, split across a semester and summer etc. etc.

Coca Cola is also cautious to ensure that other scholarships (merit) are not taken away from you because you won this one.

Coca Cola is also really great at keeping in touch with the winners and helping them stay connected with each other. This is a great scholarship from a great organization.

You will have a wonderful time in Atlanta, enjoy and congrats.

Thank you for explaining the policies on using funds. I’m sure they will explain it all when in Atlanta but right now we are trying to determine exactly what you talked about—how to make sure this doesn’t lessen the amount available from the colleges that are offering significant merit scholarships. Would be GREAT to use the Coca Cola $ for med school.:)
