Don’t think that I’m going to accept the offer. Have a few other options that I’d prefer location and program-wise. Was still extremely excited after getting my decision – great school.
@Elsastre @justforthis My daughter is doing outreach for admitted students, and it just started this past week. Agree that it was probably later than other schools, but hopefully you were contacted during the week. If not, please feel free to DM me and I can have her reach out to your child. It is a shame for these kids (and Colby!) that their admitted students day was cancelled, because it was really the best program of any college – well planned and very informative – and it made her feel confident about her decision. Given the location, I’m sure may who applied figured they’d visit once accepted, and now will be hesitant to choose a school they haven’t visited. It’s a warm and friendly place, which may not always come across in videos.
My daughter has received several communications from Colby this past week. Perhaps she talked to your daughter @hviewer?! She is also excited about the virtual events which are now being offered. I agree it is a little later than other schools she was admitted to but I also feel that is understandable given the circumstances. I assume the administration has been focused on caring for its current students, faculty, staff, etc. She has not finalized her decision yet - and we are one of those families that wasn’t able to visit! - but all of this makes me feel more confident if she does choose Colby.
@CrazyCatMama During this crisis, I’ve been impressed with Colby’s president and the college’s ongoing communications with families. They’ve been thoughtful and caring. I’m also impressed that they paid my daughter for her on-campus job through the end of the semester (NOT work-study) and automatically provided a partial room & board refund without requesting one.
I’ve been super happy with how Colby has dealt with the families during Covid-19. The communications have been thoughtful, transparent and I really appreciate how they have handled everything. I felt my daughter was safe and taken care of and we were informed of what was happening every step of the way.
