I think it’s different for a CEO than others, in regard to relationships.

This workplace relationship seems to have 2 problems: 1—he is married 2—she works for him. EDIT: #—according to a follow-up post, she is also married

Otherwise, I see no problem with a workplace relationship between 2 unattached people, generally speaking.

she is also married

I read somewhere that she was hired last November. There is a question of whether he hired his girlfriend for an important role reporting to him, or started the affair after hiring her?

I have to admit, at this point I feel the guy got his due, (lost his job and disrupted his family, scarred his image) (as well as her though I just have t heard much about her - she is no better in this situation) etc…. I do think it’s time for the attention on media to fade away.

I’m all for that. Honestly, I don’t understand why this story has gotten so much traction, maybe people need to be entertained right now, but I just feel grim. Stories about unchecked power, people being imprisoned with no explanation and no recourse, I feel like we’re living in a third world country and these are just little sideshows to make us not think about reality. I’m such a Debbie Downer lately, it’s hard to find anything entertaining.

Oh I do think it was a social moment. And this def not important than an imploding country.

But it is a moment. Another moment of not great humanity. Being called out right in front of the concert goers in a public venue and then naturally, attention becomes viral because guilty by admission! (Basically)

I do not think we should compare or align this incident with other terrible inhumane things happening. It is completely on another page.

But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get attention.

Definitely on another page, I agree. I guess I’m just too grim and too sad to understand why this is more than barely entertaining. Maybe it’s me that needs an attitude adjustment.

Ehhhh. My best friend met her husband of 30 years at work. One of my other close friends did so also. My daughter met her husband at work. It would have been very very sad for these people not to get together with the loves of their lives. My daughter thanks her lucky stars every day that she met this man. But none of them worked for the other person.

I see a lot along the lines of “ this world hasn’t been so aligned on anything since the first week of lockdown. “.

I agree. People spend so much of their time at work, often that’s where they’re going to meet their spouse. Every boyfriend I had as an adult was in the military, sometimes in the same squadron as I. I met my husband of 37 years in the military, same as my sister and her husband. Why would I have possibly looked to the civilian world for dating, when 98% of the people I worked with were men, and in the same profession, so we had much in common?

Agree. My uncle and his wife are doctor/nurse and my aunt often remarked that they worked 50 hrs a week, where on earth were they going to meet anyone else? But that’s as unmarried singles. I have zero sympathy for adultery.

I met my husband at work, but he was not my supervisor. I think that’s a critical factor in how a work relationship is viewed.

Exactly. A relationship between co-workers is different from one between a supervisor and a subordinate. Every company I’ve worked at has had rules against the latter.

What these two people are probably going to be tortured by is the knowledge that it was their reaction that made this go so viral. It’s possible that someone would have recognized them regardless, but I don’t think I, a completely unrelated individual many states away, would know about this had they just played it cool.

It’s not just these two who are hurting. Their spouses and children will feel the burden of this humilation for the rest of their lives as well.

No one would have posted it anywhere anyone except a huge Coldplay fan who also happened to know them was likely to notice
