Hello~ I have a junior in HS and beginning this college journey. I went to a seminar last nite about this company that helps you from college search, to applying, negotiating tuition/financial aid all the way up to graduate school help. I was wondering if anyone ever used a company like this and their experiences. Here is the website http://www.collegeassistanceplus.com/
Many of these seminars are very sales-based. I taught my children to advocate for themselves - H and I are both happy to help guide where we can.
My guess is that if you are able to post here at CC, you will be able to figure out this process like millions before you, and undoubtedly millions after you, without having to pay for a service like this.
But a lot comes down to opportunity cost - a good service like this can be worthwhile for some as it can help get someone organized, and able to come up with a game plan.
Stepping into an unknown is more daunting to some than others.
If your child’s HS guidance dept is over-burdened, you may find them not to be helpful enough. Other HS guidance dept are much more “hands on” and thorough, and will do most of this work for you.
Read read read the threads here on cc, ask questions, you will come out of it with as much or more knowledge than any college consultant.
