<p>What are they? How do you go about getting them?</p>
<p>Basically, a college sends an award to a HS so that if the student attends that college, they get a scholarship for it. Most of the time (or in my school), administrators/guidance decides and gives out the award.</p>
<p>Same with my school, the administrators decide. And you get an actual book (at least here).</p>
<p>We have eight of them, which go to the top 8 ranked juniors. They rotate the schools every year so that no award is seen as “better” than the others.</p>
<p>They make for a nice gift, but don’t give any leg up in the admissions process.</p>
