This was brought up before (like a month or so ago) but what GPAs are you guys looking at for this semester since now we all have a pretty solid idea?

The only class I have where I’m unsure of the grade is Environmental Science - I have a final exam (and his exams are very open ended and vague - we have a week to do them) and while he curves them generously, I’m still anxious. I also have an extra credit opportunity for that class, a research paper that is 5 to 10 pages that, if I do well on, will raise my grade 2/3 of a letter (so like a B+ to an A, for instance). I really just want winter break to be here.

I’m looking at a 3.8 or higher. I had an A- in my sociology class, but it dropped to a B+. I’m hoping I can raise it to an A- again, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

I am on the border between an A and an A- in my English class. I have a few more assignments yet to be graded, so I may or may not get the A. I’m hoping.

I hate being on the border and plus/minus grading!

I’m borderline in chemistry and calculus, but I expect that I’ll end up with an A in them. I’m confident that I’ll get an A in two of my other classes as well. I’ll probably end up with a B in my Mechanical Engineering class though, unless my group project miraculously gets a really good grade. That would leave me with a 3.81. Getting a B in either calc or chem will drop it to a 3.5 though.

I hate group projects with a passion. If I wasn’t stuck with incompetent morons I would probably end my first semester with a 4.0 (not that it’d last - but it’d be a nice cushion considering I need a 3.4 to keep my scholarships).

Passing/no passing a G.E. class that you have a high B in is the worst. You lose all motivation to study because you know that even if you bomb the final, you would probably still pass (I could probably get a 55% on the final and still pass the class). It also makes you feel like an ass because other students would be elated to have a high B in their classes.

In my computer science class, I know that I have the highest grade because the teacher posts all the grades on his website. In my math class, I probably have one of the highest grades because I received a perfect score on both midterms.

I think I have the highest grade in three out of five of my classes, which surprises me, honestly. I was worried that I wouldn’t be prepared enough for college. Most of my friends from high school told me that they never studied in high school, but I was always “that kid” that would be unnecessarily paranoid about every test, even if I knew the material like the back of my hand. I would study for every little thing, so I think I created good habits in high school. I know a lot of kids create bad ones.

I have my last math test on Wednesday. When I went to class today, my professor was talking about our test for Wednesday, and he was saying that university policy dictates that instructors shall not give students an assignment or exam the week before finals that is worth more than 10% of the students’ grade. We were all expecting him to say that he was going to cancel the next test, but he told us that it was going to be 85 points instead of 100. I felt duped, lol.

I just want to be done with my math classes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into the math class I wanted to take for next semester, so I can’t finish my math general education requirement until next fall. I was really looking forward to being done after this year.

I’ll have all A’s except for in one class. I have a 90.007% in that class, and trust me, after the cumulative lab exam coming up it will NOT be an A. Meh. But oh well, overall I’ve done pretty well. :)

@Vctory I do go to Brandeis! I’m not exactly sure who played Hayden at Yale though since I wasn’t there. We just stacked so I don’t know who’s doing what. What did he look like?
I’m going to Boston Regionals. Will you be there? Who do you play? I was the Plaintiff closer first semester, but we haven’t gotten our new assignments for Stacked teams yet.

As for GPAs: I’m looking at a 2.5-3.00. I know that sucks, but I’m going to fail orgo lab because I screwed up. The good news is, I’m ahead because I’m in orgo as a freshman, so I won’t be behind when I retake it. The other good news is, I’m going to do pretty well in my other classes.

I really want a 4.0 this semester but Environmental Science is the one class where I’m not guaranteed a good grade - we’ve had two midterms, and I got an A- on one and an A on the other - then attendance is 30% of our grade, and I have 100% for that - but our final is cumulative and much larger than the midterms and if I screw that up, it could be the difference between an A and a B-. I have that extra credit paper I mentioned before, but as each day goes by, I lose more and more motivation to complete it.

I honestly think I’m going to get a 1.5 at this point. I have NO IDEA what is going on with my history breadth class and I’m not getting clear responses what my grade is in that class. I also don’t know what I’m supposed to do for the final essay due today which I have not started yet. I know I will at least pass my other humanities class, but don’t know what kind of grade I’ll get in participation and the take home exam. And then my other two classes are P/NP. This is because I decided to overload myself with too many units PLUS work study for my first semester.

@superstarlala I can’t remember his name to save my life, but I met him at Temple (or was it Drexel?) during a bye-bust. He had black hair and glasses, maybe some facial hair? I usually middle for defense, but I’m stacked on C or D for that; I witnessed as Hayden (defense) and Andy (plaintiff) last weekend for the B team.
And I wish! But I’ll be at the Richmond regionals.

GPA, I have absolutely no idea as of now. I have one confirmed A+ in a 1 credit, a likely A+ in a 4 credits, a likely A (no option for A+) in 6 credits, and then it’s a tossup between A/A- for 6 other credits. I drove home (MD) from New Haven after closing ceremonies and a mock trial weekend, got back at around 3am, studied for 3 hours, slept for 1, studied for 1, then took a test worth 20% of my grade. Really shouldn’tve gone to the mock trial tournament (I was filling in for someone who couldn’t make it because of an exam). I think I got an 85-90%, but I’ll have to do well on a final paper to keep an A (96.9 before exam, not sure what after). I just have to focus on another class’ final to keep my 93.5% from turning into an A-.

Overall, hopefully a 4.0 school GPA/4.10 LSAC.

I’m halfway done with the extra credit research paper for Environmental Science. I’m hoping to just finish it tonight (it’s nominally due Thursday, but he’ll accept it up to the very last day of the semester - next Friday). I’ve never written a research paper for a science course, so this is weird. Environmental Science is interdisciplinary, so I’m trying to stick to the political/economic side of my topic - because once I delve into Marine Chemistry or Meteorology, I get lost.

@Vctory It was Drexel! And that’s our president Gary! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in trial, but he’s good. I’m stacked on D lol whatever. I can’t wait for our new assignments!

I had all weekend, last week, and thanksgiving to do my final paper but waited until 9:30 Tuesday night at submitted it at 11:50 when the deadline was 11:59. Then did all my course evaluations in the following 9 minutes.

It’s funny how the procrastination builds at the end of the semester. I wasn’t like this at the beginning.

@teenbodybuilder - I know what you mean. I had zero motivation to start my final English essay. I knew it was the last one I’d ever have to do for that class, but I just couldn’t get myself to do it. Luckily, I did get it done.

I finished the Environmental research extra credit essay - I just have to go back and add in-text citations and clean up the conclusion, then I’ll hand it in on Thursday. I’m so relieved. I’m gonna try to do about 1/4-1/2 of a take home test I have due next Tuesday, tonight, and see how that goes.

I’m literally showing up to school today just to watch presentations. We aren’t even doing anything in my English class (like at all) – I should just stay home and sleep. But I’m far too paranoid for that.

Hooray! I finished my two finals. feelsgoodman.jpg

I’m looking at or above a 3.7 GPA this quarter, and that’s totally fine by me because I’ve been tripling up on STEM classes. As long as I meet my guaranteed transfer requirements, I’m happy

Just found out that my engineering final is completely extra credit, and can raise my grade by 10%. I currently have around an 85%, so getting a 50 on the final means I have an A. This is incredibly exciting!
