This has been a tough week… I found out that the online homework for my chem class throughout the semester wasn’t optional, and they are 5.5% of our final grade! The deadline to finish them was 5:00pm so that’s 50 points out of the 900 gone. I have an A in the class, but I think to maintain that A, I need to pretty much ace my final.

Good luck to those who are still taking finals!

Out of curiosity, are most of your guys’s finals in-class, take-home or online? Or are they projects and papers instead? I honestly don’t know what I’d rather have–probably a final project because even if the work gets divvied up unevenly, it’d still be fairly easy to obtain a decent grade.

Not a fan of these jail bars… PSA: If you link to a [redacted] site on here, even if it’s to help someone find university housing, you’re gonna get dealt with. :-"

@Coriander23 I don’t know; I kind of like your bars. They make you look edgy. Dangerous, even. Use it to your advantage. Intimidate others. LOL.

I have one in-class final, one take home final with an in-class section, a take home final, and an essay. I personally prefer in class exams - anything else adds a degree of subjectivity and open ended-ness that I don’t particularly appreciate. In class finals seem pretty straight forward and the expectations are usually a lot clearer.

@Coriander23 Haha! The bars mean your banned? From what sections? How can you still post?

This. I need a 150/150 on a paper to get an A+ in my government class. 149/150 is a 96.99, 150/150 is a 97.04. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if it were an in class final rather than a research paper.

My English final is composed of many different assignments. Tomorrow, I have to write a final reflection in class. I also had to write another essay; however, I was able to pick any topic that I wanted. My professor checked my rough draft and had positive things to say about it. I also have to do a revision exercise from my textbook for the final essay. The exercises are supposed to help me look at my writing more critically and help me write a better essay overall. So, I have three assignments that count as a “final,” one in-class and two at-home.

My chemistry, math, and kinesiology finals are in-class. I don’t have a final in my sociology class.

I wish my psychology final was take home because that class was a complete waste of my time. It is a flipped class so we have to teach ourselves the material and then we do activities in class. I feel like I’ve learned nothing this whole semester which sucks. But the trick is that we have to go to class because we have these “knowledge checks” which are three question multiple choice questions that test what we’ve learned in the book and from the activity. Plus, these checks are a whopping 10% of our grade so… At this point, I’m accepting defeat with open arms.

On a more positive note, I did really well on my Chinese final! I’m kind of sad that it’s over because it was my first spoken-language course and I thought that class was going to be the death of me. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to minor in Chinese . My advisor probably won’t let me, he’ll probably suggest a minor in chemistry…

If the server on College Confidential is going to act like this from now until the 2015 deposit deadline, I’m gonna be very irritated. I don’t understand why everyone feels so compelled to flock to the CC forums the moment they get their admission decision - like damn, go call your grandma first or something.

So, I forgot to mention something. I had my final math test on Wednesday, and it was on conic sections. There wasn’t anything too hard on the test. So, we had to graph each of the four conic sections - parabola, ellipse, circle, and hyperbola. I graphed 3/4 of them, and then I came to the ellipse. I did all my math right, but my answers for the graph made zero sense. I was getting so irritated, so I asked the professor. Now, I hate asking professors questions during a test because most of the time they just shrug their shoulders and say, “I can’t help you.” Then it’s awkward. My professor came over to me, and he did just that. So, he went back to the front of the room and looked at the test. He then said, “Yeah, I misprinted #13, so don’t worry about that one.” Lol, I was so f’ing pissed off. The problem was 20 points, so I was having a heart attack trying to figure out what was wrong. Man, talk about a near-death experience.

I’ll be annoyed if he takes points off that problem for some reason. I don’t think it’s fair to do that if he wrote the problem wrong.

Yeah, the site’s been really laggy for me as well. I was going to follow along all the ED/EA decision threads and maybe munch on some popcorn (kidding, I know how stressful the process can be) but the site kept kicking me off with an annoying error message so I had to find something better to do.

And while my quasi-ban doesn’t extend towards any particular subforum, I can’t start any new threads or respond too often. According to my prisoner’s catalogue, I get to keep these jail bars for the next couple of days, so you guys can call me Coriander “Rebel” 23 for the time being.

I just took my final sociology quiz. I have an 89% in the class, and I did an extra credit assignment, so I should just make a 90%. My GPA may be a 3.93 for this semester.

My math and chemistry finals are on Monday. I’m not too worried. I have a 98% in math and a 100% in chemistry, and my professors basically told us what to expect for the final. I also calculated how many points I can miss to maintain an A. I just want to get these finals done.
