College Class 2018

I’ve been on summer break for three days, LOL.

I’ve been on summer break for a little over a week, but I’m taking summer classes so I only have a few days left before they start :frowning:

I’ve been on break about 2 weeks no . I’m starting work again this week; so now that I don’t have to buy food and stuff (commuting now) my money earned will last a little longer

Finished Freshman year with a 4.0

(I literally just got my grades today while some of y’all have been on summer break for like 5 months already LOL.)

Throws name into the stack of 4.0s

Technically, I think I’ve been on break for two weeks? Lost track… I’m going to take summer classes, but they don’t start for the next month.

I’m finally done with freshman year! I didn’t have any finals this quarter so I was able to get out a little earlier than everyone else at my college. Hope you’re all having a relaxing summer

^Did you just finish?

Last semester was rough. I’m not taking computer science again. While my GPA may not be where I like it, I can definitely improve it next semester. I’m happy to be done with the first year. I’ve learned so much and made so many great friends. Feels good to be moving on. I might even know what I want to do after college, which is exciting because it gives me some direction.

I got a three day break from school and then started summer session, so I’m still going hard right now. Just a week and a half left though!
Pulled a 4.0 spring semester with 17 credits and I’m still a little stunned. I’m so grateful for understanding profs; I got a concussion the week before finals and definitely didn’t perform well enough to get some of the grades I did on some projects/exams. Definitely motivation to keep my grades as high as possible in the future because it really gave me wiggle room with my profs. Something tells me it wouldn’t have gone so well if I’d had bad grades when I approached them for accommodations!!

I got out last Friday! Everyone else finished today (or a couple days beforehand depending on when their last final was).

I’m still waiting on grades but hopefully I’ll end up somewhere in the 3.9 range. I had a very relaxing quarter and took a lot of cool classes that I’m glad I gained exposure to. My courses definitely felt a bit pre-professional in the sense that we were out in the field and working on case projects a lot, but I really enjoyed them and am hoping to take more classes like these in the future.

Anyone taking summer courses?

No. I can’t afford my school without scholarships, and they don’t apply during the summer. I wish colleges would have some kind of “pay for X courses, get one free” deal.

Me too. My scholarships don’t cover summer or winter session courses. I don’t really care, though. I want my summer to be more like an actual summer vacation rather than an extension of an academic semester. Even my internship is only 2 days a week so I get to spend most of my time sleeping 14 hours a day.

Is anyone dieting/exercising to lose some weight? I packed on some pounds during the spring semester in the last couple of months because I was pretty stressed so most of my school life revolved around hours in the library followed by lunch & dinner at my school’s Burger King. Eeek. I’ve been dieting and working out for the past month and a half and seeing some good results.

I’m taking an intensive summer italian course (equivalent to three semesters) right now, but its not at UR. Its non-degree at a public in-state university near my house. It didn’t cost me that much out of pocket, since I used the $3000 stipend from my UR scholarship to offset the cost. I would never be able to afford a summer class at UR though, since my scholarship doesn’t apply in summers either.

Lol I gained so much weight this past year… I need to lose it but I’d rather watch tv after I finish my hw

I’m taking Differential Equations and Speech this summer. My scholarships don’t cover summer, but I’m taking them at a CC so paying out of pocket wasn’t a big deal (it was around $600, I just used some of my leftover finaid from the spring). I also have an internship offer on the table (they are doing a background check and contacting my references now, unless my references are horrific I should get an official offer in a couple of days). So hopefully I’ll be doing that the other 3 days of the week.

I started Tae Kwon Do a few months ago so I thankfully haven’t put on much weight since… I did first semester though so I need to get rid of that! But TKD seems to be helping and I just got my green belt and get to spar now, so that should help more.

I’m working at a math program for middle-school students. I didn’t apply for programs or internships this summer, mostly because my parents wanted to go on a trip at the beginning of June. I’m also facing this catch-22 situation where there’s nothing I can do to start getting experience. I’ve taken more classes than most people who start research and internships in my field, but I still feel incompetent when I look at job postings.

I didn’t sign up for any summer courses, but I’m working a 40 hour week, so there goes my life for this summer. =/

I’m also learning german grammar this summer so I can test out at my university (Im a heritage speaker). It’s so confusing because of the Italian course and my previous french and latin experience (the latter two are really screwing with my italian). I would not recommend learning two languages at the same time, idk how I did it in elementary school.

I’ll be volunteering on an urban farm in a couple of weeks, but for now I’m content to just sit around, spend time with family, and maybe watch a video on GIS or two. And I definitely need to start working out again, haha.
