College Class 2018

1199, try going to the class you're not 100% sure you want to take the class. See if you like it, if not you can hop to your backup class. I'm doing the exact same thing with my Marco class. I'm not sure, so I haven't bought the textbook yet.

LOL, it’s hard because I am undecided on which class I want to take, and they both meet at the same time. I’m trying to figure this out before tomorrow, but I want to see the syllabi from both classes. I don’t think either professor uses the online course management system, so there’s no way for me to view the syllabi online. UGH!

What are the two classes you think of taking?

@NASA2014, I was debating between a comparative literature class and a math class. I am deciding to take the comp. lit. class. I went to the first class meeting today, and I really like the professor, so I’m going to stick with that.

I hope everyone who started today had a good first day!

@NewBeginnings3 That’s good to hear!! Let’s hope I will like my marco class this wednesday. I have other two classes if marco doesn’t work out.

@NASA2014, I just hate not being sure, LOL. Finding the right classes is so hard.

What math class it is?

Well, I just have class on Friday, and my first week will be over. I really like my classes so far, so that’s half the battle. It should be a fun semester!

I still have two weeks of “vacation” left; I’m just itching to get back in school. You’d be surprised how boring waking up at noon everyday and watching reruns of the Real Housewives of Orange County can be.

I think I’m gonna like all my classes this semester. It’s a lot of work, however. Every time I got a new syllabus, I cried a little inside at the amount of things I had to do. I’m taking 6 academic classes this semester, plus 4 music ensembles (2 for credit, 2 not) and 2 sets of private music lessons. I think I’ll be fine, though.

One Wednesdays, I don’t have class until 1:30 pm. The best part was this morning, I slept in and my roommate woke up at like 10 and was like, don’t you class? I was like nope! I rolled back over and went back to sleep. I think she was a little jealous! But hey, I needed it; Tuesdays I have 9 am math (number theory), three more courses, and finish the day with orchestra til 9 pm.

I forgot to mention that I totally forgot about my tuition bill and didn’t file for the PLUS loan until the Friday before the semester started. The loan has been approved, but I’m still waiting for it to be processed by my school’s finance office. The thing that sucks is that I cannot add any classes until the bill is paid. Luckily, I shouldn’t have to add any classes. I am going to make sure to take care of the bill as soon as I receive it next time.

@preamble1776 #JustUMassProbs Seriously, why do we go back so late? I just wanna be with my friends, eat some amazing dining hall food and complain about how far my room is from my classes. Is that too much to ask for?

The whole northeast does it. I can’t wait to go back. I’m flying in 8 days before classes.

Don’t feel too bad, late starters, my son doesn’t move back into his dorm until 9/11, classes start on 9/14. They’re on the quarter system (University of Denver), and go until early June. They also get off from Thanksgiving until 1/4. He goes nuts with boredom stuck at home for 6 weeks.

Does anyone else on here hate emailing his or her adviser? I always feel like I’m just wasting my adviser’s time with unimportant questions. I know that it’s her job, but I feel bad, LOL.

I always email my adviser, and PLUS he’s my math professor so I go to his office hours twice a week. Just be you. Don’t be afraid to email.

I turned in my major declaration form today! lol and I’m already thinking of changing things. Currently am a double major with a minor, but I’m thinking of adding a second minor since I have room and am taking classes in that subject anyways.

I have to declare my major and minor in the spring. That’ll be here before I know it.

I’m kinda scared if I have to transfer in the spring. I don’t know where I’m going to stay while I’m away!

I just found out that I should be looking at campus housing for next semester/next fall. I don’t know where to stay, LOL.

Textbooks are way too expensive this year. $300 for one class.
