@Vctory whispers torrent whispers
@Violet1996 - Whenever I advise my friends to torrent a textbook, I feel like the FBI is crouching in my bushes ready to arrest me at any moment.
@FBI: Haha, just kidding, I never advise my friends to torrent textbooks, that’s illegal. I’m a good noodle.
As per 17 U.S. Code § 506, Copyright Infringement is only a criminal offense if motivated by commercial gain, reproduction, or distribution.
Learning is not illegal.

@Violet1996 Worst part is I can’t even find a torrent for this book; it’s made for my class by my professor
I found a free PDF version of one of my textbooks, but I’m thinking about buying a copy of the book because I like reading from a physical book and not a computer screen. I get distracted easily when I read PDFs.
@NewBeginnings3 Would it be cheaper to print, punch holes, and loose leaf it? That’s what I’m doing with two of mine.
Taking Intermediate Macro Theory & Intermediate Micro Theory at the same time, along w/ Economic Statistics (prereq for Econometrics), German, a Poli Sci seminar, and some other stuff. 20 credits in all. That and my EC’s should keep me somewhat busy
@Vctory Goddamn I hate when professors do that. Last semester, one of my professors made us buy his book. It was printed in two volumes and you could only buy it from one bookstore in town (not even on the internet). My friends and I went to the store to discover that the second volume was not ready so we had to make a second trip several weeks later. And then I managed to twist my ankle on ice during the second trip. At least we had an excuse to go the pizza place afterwards. =/
@guineagirl96 50-21, we win
First day of classes tomorrow.
What do you guys do when you don’t get a response to your phone calls/texts/emails? I made an appointment with my advisor on Thurs., Aug. 27th to meet and discuss my transferring. She said we’d meet tomorrow (Sept. 8th), but she didn’t tell me what time would work for her, so when I responded, I asked her what time would work best, and she didn’t respond. I emailed her this past Friday and again asked what time would be best, and she didn’t respond. I’m really not sure what to do. I’m wondering if I should email her again, but I don’t want to annoy her if she’s purposely ignoring me. She could just be busy, but I’m not sure.
@NewBeginnings3 - Last semester, my advisor would have incredibly delayed or nonexistent responses to my emails regarding advising meetings. I needed advising prior to the beginning of registration or else I’d jeopardize my priority status – so I just got a new advisor, lol. I’m not sure how it works at your university but I just asked one of my professors if he’d be able to meet with me in his office and I could discuss courses/etc and then he became my new advisor.
@preamble1776, I feel like sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands like that, LOL.
I know she checks her email multiple times a day, so I know she had to have seen both of my emails. I like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it’s really hard to do that sometimes. I hate playing games like this. Just give me a response so that I don’t look like a jackass by constantly asking, “When should we meet?”
@NewBeginnings3 Would it be going out of your way to show up to her office in person and talk to her secretary/the person at the advising desk? I’ve had to set up appointments like that if I really needed to
@Vctory, she ended up responding yesterday morning. I never really thought to schedule an appointment with her secretary because she prefers all forms of communication to be through email, so I was hesitant to do that.
@preamble1776, how was your first day?
@NewBeginnings3 Tiring, haha. I didn’t regulate my sleeping schedule enough so I ended up going to sleep at midnight and waking up at 3am. Then I left my house at 5am. I was exhausted. But sleep deprivation aside, my first day was fun. My classes seem really interesting and the professors are good.
My school has an online portal where you can see what times your advisor is free and can easily schedule a meeting. Mine is also very prompt in replying to emails.
Finally got off the waitlist for this class, but now I have a problem set due in 9 hours. Bittersweet.
Can’t believe I’m already starting my fourth week tomorrow. I am finally settled into all my classes and am enjoying them.
I found out last week that I might not have to transfer in the spring; I can probably wait until fall 2016, so I’m happy about that.
I almost accidentally emailed this:

to my English professor instead of my essay.
