Heading into week six today. It’s crazy how fast the time is flying. I have to meet with my advisor and put the final touches on my spring schedule because the course schedule comes out today. It’s crazy to think that come March, I’ll be planning for junior year!
How are everyone’s grades so far? I think I have all A’s, which is good for seven weeks into the semester (I guess).
My grades are definitely not as good as I would like at this point.
I’m doing really well in my major classes, I expect to finish with A’s in both of them.
I’m not doing as well as I would like in my 3 non-major classes. I definitely didn’t put as much time into geology as I should have as I underestimated it, so my grade is suffering a bit. It’s not a bad grade (B), but not the easy A I was expecting.
My linear algebra grade isn’t as well as I would like either. The first section had a lot of review for me so I slacked off… And put the homework off to the last minute and didn’t allot enough time to the homework. And don’t even get me started on my philosophy grade. The professor gives me bad scores because my opinion is somehow wrong. Thankfully it’s over in 2 weeks and I can stop trying to read his mind and say what he wants to hear, and can focus on other classes instead.
Wassup class of 2018, 2 semesters down, currently in 1, and 5 more semesters to go.
My school just released courses for Spring 2016. My registration begins in a few weeks (2, I think) – I am getting advising next week. This semester is flying by.
I love putting courses in my “shopping cart.” It’s almost as fun as actual online shopping, lol.
You know what’s sad? I have to restrain myself when people ask if our school is offering a certain class next semester. I have looked at the spring schedule numerous times so far, and I can pretty much tell someone if a course is being offered, who is teaching it, and what time it is offered, LOL. I have to restrain myself from looking like such a dweeb.
This semester is flying! I just finished week seven. Where is the time going?
Oh, and I love this time of year. The weather is cooling down and the leaves are changing. The trees on campus look so pretty.
@NewBeginnings3 - When you’re a Political Science major and you just happen to know how many Organic Chemistry sections are being offered next semester, LOL.
@preamble1776, LOL, I am an English major and can tell someone how many sections of college algebra are being offered and at what times.
I have two midterms this week. The semester is officially half-over.
I’ve had four midterms (which haven’t gone especially well), and there are three yet to come.
Last week, I had a discrete math midterm where the professor asked us to prove something that turns out to be undecidable in ZFC. I didn’t realize this until I looked it up online after class, so I guess most people thought they proved it (or they were like me and just sat there feeling bad about themselves). I emailed him and he says he’s going to offer it for extra credit, but somehow I don’t think anyone will get it.
Fall Break for me, so no class Monday or Tuesday! It is definitely a much needed break, the last two have been overwhelming between midterms, an ER trip and lots of subsequent dr visits and physical therapy. And one of my more stressful courses will be over on Friday, so that is definitely a relief as well!
When do you guys register for classes for next semester? Hard to believe registration for me is like in two weeks! Do you know what you’re taking yet?
I register on October 28th.
I’m taking:
Mathematics of Money
Introduction to Literature
Literature and Nature
Mass Media & Society
Creative Writing
This adds up to fifteen credits. I’m staying at my current campus for spring and then transferring for fall 2016. It’s scary to think that I’ll be three hours away from home when I transfer. It’s crazy how fast this semester is moving. I just finished week eight today. Seven weeks to go!
I registered the other day.
Introduction to Transportation Engineering
Strength of Materials
Applied Mathematical Statistics
Social Problems and American Values
Calculus Supplement to College Physics II
For a total of 14 credits. It’ll definitely be a relief after this semester.
I think I’m going to try to get into:
Abstract Algebra 1
Algorithms with Lab
Intro to Composition (music)
Dance History II
Intermediate German 2 with Drill
Private Lessons x2
Orchestra
Chamber Ensemble
Jazz Combo
Rep Class (music 0 credits)
That’s 7.25 units (25.375 credits I think)
5 units being academic (17.5 credits)
I wanted to take band for credit but I have a course conflict with every section of sectionals (again!), so I can’t. At least it doesn’t affect my ability to be in the ensemble.
I’m also torn between taking choreography 2 and dance history 2. Choreography is once a week for 2.5 hours, though, so that’s why I’m leaning against it.
I really wanted to take Numerical Analysis, but it’s at the same time as Intro to Comp. Abstract Algebra is required for the math major though, so I guess I’m fine taking it next semester. Plus I love the prof that’s teaching it next semester. It’ll be my third class with her!
This semester I’m taking 17 credits. I’m also taking a non-credit class for NREMT certification which is about 12 hours a week.
Epidemiology
Healthcare Systems Economics
Writing and Culture: The Art of Rhetoric
The Problem of God
Foundations of Biology w/Lab
Pre-registration doesn’t start until November, but next semester will look something like…
Health Services Research
Delivering Care Across the Continuum
Politics of Healthcare
Intro Philosophy
Fall of Rome or Roman Architecture
Foundations of Biology II w/Lab
That would be 20 credits which might be too much. Might push philosophy or one of my Roman classes to Junior year to be at 17, which is definitely manageable.
