I have officially signed up for a research assistant position in a professor’s kind of “pet project” lab. It’s a new subfield he’s pioneering and it sounds super interesting.
Worried about dedicating 10 hrs/week to stuff that’s not homework, through. I’m taking fluids and thermo and bio and two other classes. Don’t want to overload myself.
Can’t believe I’ve been through five weeks of classes already. Where’s the time going? I’m excited to see my family for parents weekend in three weeks!
So my class registration for next semester is officially less than a week away (its wednesday) and I still cant make up my mind on what classes I want to take :)) Also I can’t believe that we’re already at that point in the semester. It feels like it just started!
I registered about a week ago for classes next semester and it was a struggle…including one required class being listed at 9 pm despite actually being at 9 am in the end. That will be the first semester in which I take nothing that isn’t Chem or ChemE.
I pulled a 100% and 97% on my first exams in fluids and thermo, respectively. Also had an interview this week for an internship that I would really love to get. But on the other hand I am swamped with work (between five classes, research, and the job search) and am really feeling the pressure. x_X
I always forget about this thread until somebody bumps it up.
I’m heading into my last semester from my community college. I will be scheduling my classes next week. I think. Although I have my classes all set. I just need to find one more 200 level course. I’m not sure what I will take. I’ve decided that I’m going to audit Organic Chemistry 2. This is because of the commitment from a 45-minute drive to school. Since the labs are from 1:00 to 4:50 It’s too late and the day gets dark quickly so that’s a big no no. Don’t want to get stuck in a middle of a snow storm. I will just attend the lecture! I would take Organic 2 at either penn state or anywhere else. Professor, from Penn State, said that it was fine for me to audit the class. So I guess I will take CHEM212 and 213W together? no idea. I’m just going to wait and see.
@NASA2014, are you going to University Park?
I can’t believe I’ve been through nine weeks of classes already. We only have five weeks left! Crazzzyyyy! I’m ready for our week-long Thanksgiving break, though.
I just had a meeting with my major advisor – I will be officially done with my major, minor, general ed, and honors requirements next semester and I am set to graduate in Fall 2017. I also just applied to the senior thesis program, which I’ll be beginning this spring - eek. Seems like everything is moving super quickly.
I also love my internship SO MUCH - I think I might stay for the Spring.
So the CS department (one of my majors) at my university has a big problem right now… They’re only offering 2 upper level major electives next semester and because the graduating senior class is so large, one filled entire with seniors (including overrides), and the other filled with seniors + 4 juniors (I was not one who got a spot). So me and about a dozen other junior CS majors can’t take any CS course next semester, because we’ve already taken all the other courses being offered (but the electives), and they can’t add another class because they don’t have enough professors to do so.
Very frustrating, and a lot of us are very pissed off.
Luckily I’ll still be able to graduate on time, but my schedule for next semester will look a little weird:
Mathematical Statistics
Abstract Algebra II (independent study)
Intro Women, Gender, sexuality studies (gen Ed)
Choreography I
Advanced Ballet or Intro Linguistics (will decide next week)
I scheduled for spring semester just a few days ago. I am still not sure if what I scheduled is going to be my final schedule. I’m so indecisive when it comes to scheduling classes.
It is crazy to think that I am going into week 11 already. I only have four weeks of classes left in the fall semester. Where did the time go?
Happy thanksgiving everyone!
I only have one more week of classes before finals! Crazy!
I’m kinda tempted to take six academic classes next semester, and am trying to decide whether it’s a good idea. Usually, I only take five classes (most people take four to five a semester). A few of the classes are easy, so I think I might be able to handle it, but I also have a huge amount of music commitments (somewhere around 16 hours a week just of rehearsals; I also have to practice on my own).
I’m definitely taking:
Mathematical Statistics (math major upper-level elective)
Choreography I (dance minor req; shouldn’t be much work outside class)
Advanced Ballet (dance minor elective; know for a fact it won’t be much work outside class)
Catching Criminals w/Chem (gen ed; by some miracle I got a spot-usually only seniors get in)
I want to also take:
Intro Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies (gen ed; offered every semester, but i want to get it done)
History of the Romance Languages (elective; linguistics class only offered every other year)
I may have to choose between the two. I’m also holding out hope that someone drops one of the CS electives and I’m able to get a spot(since CS is my primary major), in that case, I probably wouldn’t be able to take either of the above two.
Hey guys! I haven’t been on here in a while, but I’m checking back in. It’s been a good semester for me. I’m going abroad to Israel next semester at Technion and I’m planning to take the GREs in February before I leave the country. Isn’t that crazy? Hope everyone’s doing well!
Hope you all had a great semester! I am very happy with how I did this semester - I got a 4.0! I am so surprised. I was certain I would get an A-/B+ in my one class, but somehow, I got an A. I was also concerned about another class, but I somehow pulled off an A in that class, too. I am just so happy since this was my first semester at a college away from home.
My schedule for next semester is somewhat finalized. I am trying to get into this one class with a professor I had this semester. I am hoping!
My good grades from this semester are making me excited for next semester. I am already looking forward to going back!
Got all A’s this semester (grades were posted a little later than usual.) Two more semesters left.
I’m heading back to school today. Classes start on Monday. I’m excited to go back.
I’m doing all my birthday celebration this week because my actual birthday is the second day of school. Going back on Sunday. 15 credits of all ChemE and Chem classes – so no blow-offs. It’s gonna be rough.
If I make it through this semester, I spend the summer making $27/hr, and there’s only two semesters left after that.
I head back tomorrow, with classes also starting Monday for me. I still don’t have my schedule finalized though
I’m trying to get into a CS class, but if that doesn’t happen, I have to choose between two other classes that I’m registered for (Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies or a linguistics elective).
Stuff happened so I’m waiting for add/drop period to open. I’m going to replace half my classes with new ones.
on the bright side, I still have a week of vacation left.
Can’t believe it’s already the second week of class! We have today off because of the holiday. I’m actually really looking forward to this semester! Got into the CS class I wanted and all my professors seem super awesome!
I still haven’t started class because my program abroad goes from March-July. Isn’t that crazy???
This semester is going by so quickly! Already past spring break and the schedule for next semester came up this past week. Registration for me is a week from Tuesday. I’m not ready to be a senior :((
