Is it me, or is this website kind of like Heroin? Ever since I found it … I can’t stop looking at it. Parents, how many hours a week do you spend on this and other websites researching college info? Just wondering.

Yes, it is addictive. So much so that I now have a job as a financial aid officer. :)

Not sure how this ended up posting above OP’s post.

Really too many.

Done researching college info. DD graduated from college last May  DS a happy sophomore in college. Still here   just hanging out. not addicted. really…

well-wondering what I will do when the decision is made and all is completed…

Ha, you’ll just move to the parent cafe and find fun company with the other parents whose kids are already in college!

hmmm, my edit didn’t fix it. Oh well, time to get back to election returns.

Previous threads have addressed this and reading them you can see there are many long timers. I’ve been lurking since early 2002 and created a screen name in 2005. My children are convinced I will never leave. My only internet addition, largely due to a wonderful group of parents and students who love education and what it means for us all.

Likewise- a good bunch of people to converse with. I miss some of those who were oldtimers two years ago and are disappearing, but I can see why.

you know, I have a senior in college and in high school so there is an excuse for me. But I genuinely like/have positive regard/enjoy sharing a laugh or a wry smile with many of the adults who post and find it comforting that they are experiencing similar passages/questions. What is next? who knows. what happens by midnight might have a bigger effect on all of us though then when what happens when finally wean off of CC…The occasional private messages are also usually so very helpful/constructive re information sharing.

Yes - definitely addicting!

kelsmom - congrats on your new job!

I’ve been posting here for 5 years, so yes, it is addictive. But mostly because it is a well-moderated board with posters with whom I have many interests/experiences in common.

Found this site kind of late - fall of D’s senior year. She’s a Rice junior now.

I don’t have a problem. I can quit anytime I want…

Mine graduated college last June. I am still here. Draw your own conclusion…

newmassdad…I think you were just raised by the old adage
“Make new friends, and keep thee old…some are silver and the other gold.”

What a great day in our nation. By the way.

DD says College Confidential : Mom = Facebook : me.

You’ll come back for one year, because you’ll want to give back to all those who helped you by helping the next year’s parents navigate the treacherous shores of college applications.

Any time you spend after that will be because you’ll be addicted…(5 years and counting)

And don’t forget the (somewhat unknown) tidbit: Posts in the Cafe don’t register in your post count.

There was a thread on this a couple of years ago, in which CC was called the crack cocaine of websites.

Didn’t know that about post counts and the Cafe!

See, have to stay cause there is still MUCH to learn here!!! :)
