<p>In principle. The problem is that they have no way knowing the standard required to get the “A” (same reason that GPA is typically irrelevant). I would imagine it would depend on how strong the rest of your app is, and how competitive the course/uni are. The only example that I know of first hand is a student who was applying for subject in which there were very limited relevant APs on offer, and the class was directly relevant.</p>
