My daughter applied to a school the morning the common app opened and it very quickly changed from submitted to downloaded by college. Everything I have heard from other schools and all my other friends have said they do not download from common app until mid August. They stay in submitted status until then which is the case with any of our friends as well as the other colleges she applied to. We have waited the 2-3 days to get the login from the college but it has not happened. I am worried that this “download” was an error and the application has been lost somehow. Has anyone actually had a download from a college AND received login info from the college?
Your daughter pressed send, but the college has to pull the data from the Common App into their system. It can take up to a week from then before they send an applicant info to set up access to their applicant portal.
May I ask what the urgency is? Seems like you should have some time to let the process happen.
According to the common app website the college did pull the data. I am thinking that no college can pull yet based on what I am hearing. She is trying to get a waiver that is based on application date so timing is important. This is why she applied so early. I am trying to determine if any college could have already pulled the application.
Call the college and ask.
Colleges take varying amount of times to recognize you and set up a portal for you.
But she can call, explain that she applied 3 days ago, and ask how long it would take to see the portal.
This way, she can have reassurance.
