College Essay help questions

Can you guys give me tips on college essays- for an elite school-
who helped yo?

Tell a story that you think the admissions committee really needs to read in order to get to know the real you.

Write down the essay prompt that you are going to be replying to. Once you’re finished that, write a list of different topics that you can see yourself writing about. Try writing a little, and then cross off topics that don’t seem right. Eventually you’ll narrow it down to the topic that works best for the prompt.

Harry Bauld’s book, Writing the College Essay, is now in it’s 25th edition and is still the gold standard. You can probably get it from your library.

I am a parent and I read over my kid’s and suggested some sentence changes back years ago. She came up with the idea herself. Here is the essay forum

Parents often read and edit essays, but you can get a friendly third party to read it - your English teacher for example, or someone (a family member?) who knows you well and writes well.
