Go Wahoos! How about drive by UVA?? Let’s go.
Wow! Duke shocked me.

I do not believe that a team should be penalized for losing in the conference title game. So if that had been Texas … they could have lost and would be a 4-loss team. Then they be screaming the extra loss was in the conference title game.
Last year, the committee said exactly that. I’m not sure they’ve come out with that statement this year?
GO HOOSIERS! Best news I’ve woken up to in years!
Don’t disagree but that’s the point (to me) - they didn’t even make the title game.
If you’re tied for 5th in your conference, you really don’t have a leg to stand on.
I get playing OSU, you stepped up vs playing SE Louisiana like others but within the conference they had two losses. And sure, one can say the same about Oklahoma, who will make it.
I think if it’s 12 overall, no conference should get more than two. Of course the SEC commish and @Youdon_tsay will strongly disagree.
That’s the beauty of sports - disagreement. They are saying Mendoza sealed the Heisman last night. They scored 13. I’m not seeing that !! He may win but based on last night ? We all think differently. I’m going Pavia :).
Hey, I’m new to the SEC so it’s not like I am super-attached to that brand (although I loved SEC Shorts even before joining the SEC), but to say no more than two from any one conference would be silly as not all conferences are created equal.
The new AP Poll rankings are out. We are no. 14 – behind three teams we beat, including a 17-point beatdown of OU at a neutral site. ![]()
I like Mendoza for the Heisman. Pavia has started to give me Johnny Manziel vibes.
His mother and brother are doing him no favors.
My mind saw Johnny Manziel immediately when I started watching this guys behavior. Not cool, just not cool. Hope changes his ways or he may end up just like Manziel in the end which is just sad.
100% agreed.
But what’s crazy to me is - by absorbing all these top teams, they have put themselves in this position.
I mean, if Miami is left out (or Duke, which at 8-5 will be), then the major conference ACC has no one. Does JMU and Tulane deserve a slot over them?
So pulling in A&M, UT, Oklahoma - from a money POV, the SEC runs circles around everyone.
But then should the SEC championship be the national championship? Or the winners of only the Big 10 and SEC play one another - UGA and IU play one another - and the rest don’t matter?
The conferences have looked out for themselves - it’s why the ACC was near implosion. But then we get this one sidedness.
Thank goodness they put in Miami over ND. Head-to-head should matter.
They need to realign the conferences so they actually do represent the Southeast and the Northeast and we need a Southwest, a Northwest and a Midwest - spread the love….SEC will lose some to the Southwest and not sure where the dividing line will be with the others, but don’t let Texas and Texas A&M and Oklahoma and Arkansas into the SEC - add additional teams from Florida and Alabama and Tennessee and the Carolinas. I know silly and over simplified but hey, everybody gets some good and some not so good.
While there are too many bowl games, this is is weak.
Your starters opt out for draft prep - then play the kids that never play.
But it’s unfair to the student body and athletes….IMHO.
College football bowls: Big 12 fines Iowa State, Kansas State $500,000 for opt outs - CBS Sports
Maybe Notre Dame finally needs to join a conference. They HAMMERED most everyone the played but lost to A&M by one at home and Miami by 3 on the road.
They fell this week despite not having a game. They fell while others also not playing, rose past.
If anyone school should be ticked off.
I think you’re right that ND should join a conference. There is a price to pay for being independent. They don’t have to share revenue, they control their schedule, but they don’t have a conference to compete for a championship.
I’m not a college football fan. That said, GO DUKES! This is great for JMU.
Well, that’s where the committee screwed up. They shouldn’t have kept ND in front of Miami all that time after Miami beat them. IMO, they righted the wrong committed weeks ago, but doing it at the final buzzer is what makes it sting and look sus.
I like what Krik Herbstreit said today, that we all want to give the G5 conferences a chance, but there should be a minimum rank that those conference winners have to meet to be included in the playoffs.
I think we all love the small schools. Like in basketball, we love to see the 14 or 15 take down the two or three.
We loved Kellen Moore and Ian Johnson at Boise State. But in most cases, the JMUs and Tulane’s will get crushed.
But if they’re not given a chance….
All this means is now a push to 16 from 12 teams. The physical abuse from 3 more games - terrible.
Notre Dame has announced that they won’t play in a bowl game this season.
As has Iowa State and Kansas State.
ISU and KSU were fined $500,000 each by the Big 12 for not fulfilling their contracted obligations. ND will not be fined because they are not in a conference.
Terrible what happened. But classless on their part.
You should compete. Show the committee they were wrong.
Horrible sportsmanship by all these schools.
I do not know about KSU. Iowa State knew they were not going to make the playoff. They have had numerous injuries, including both starting cornerbacks that were out for the season about game 5 or 6. They decided to not risk further injury and chose to avoid a bowl game.
WWTJD? I think he’d play the game.
