Lower or Higher?

Sherrone Moore was detained by police in Saline, Michigan, on Wednesday and was later turned over to a second area police department for investigation into potential charges, the Saline Police Department stated.

ā€œThe City of Saline Police Department assisted in locating and detaining former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore,ā€ the department said in a statement released to ESPN. ā€œMr. Moore was turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation into potential charges.ā€

I don’t understand

Unclear to me why?

Me too. We’ll have to wait for more.

Maybe I misunderstood - if they are 12 or lower, they are guaranteed in, correct?

Oooooh! I guess I meant higher? 13, 14 or 15 …

ā€œMaybe Moore would have learned, adjusted and gotten the program back on track to another title. Young coaches have growing pains, and they are magnified at a place like Michigan. But deep down, as Michigan fans watched this team, it would have been much easier to imagine him in two or three years getting fired for a mediocre on-field product than leading them back to championship glory.ā€

What would the criminal charges be? I quickly read the article and didn’t see any criminal activity.

But don’t they have newspapers in Michigan? Mel Tucker was also fired from MSU for conduct with a contractor/staff type person (and as a CU fan, I couldn’t have been happier). Harbaugh left in shame (of course not in his opinion) and ruined a few of his staffers’ reputations too.

ā€œSources have provided the graphic details leading up to the arrest of former Michigan HC Sherrone Moore: During an argument with his wife, Moore threatened to kill himself. He then drove to – and broke into – the home of his assistant, where he held a knife to his own throat and threatened to kill both himself and the staffer. He was then intercepted at a local church after his wife provided his phone’s location to the authorities. He is now in protective custody. Just a tragic chain of events for all involved.ā€

Thanks @onthewestfence. That is very sad but nice to read no one was physically hurt.

Is this verified info? I don’t think this is in vetted news sources yet? Which of course doesn’t mean it’s not true. All so sad.

It’s not a great time for Michigan to be looking for a coach either, with so many coaches just hired and current coaches re-upping deals. Maybe they will go looking on NFL staffs? Now all recruits are free to leave too. I also expect to see more Michigan players in the portal when it opens in January. IMO managing the guys on the team and the recruits is way more important than bowl prep for the interim coach.

I’ve seen nothing beyond this - alleged assault. Let’s hope he’s not lost it and given up future employment opportunities.

According to a statement from the Pittsfield Police Department, officers responded to a location at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday ā€œfor the purposes of investigating an alleged assault.ā€ A suspect in the case ā€œwas taken into custodyā€ and ā€œthis incident does not appear to be random in nature,ā€ the statement says. An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been formally filed. Moore was not named in the statement.

ā€œThis incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community. The suspect was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail pending review of charges by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor,ā€ the statement says. ā€œAt this time, the investigation is ongoing. Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details.ā€

It might be short term - like 5 years given his age and it’s unoriginal, but I think Brian Kelly. Whose firing was ridiculous, could fit here very easily. And he’s got history in the region. He’s a jerk but he’s going to win. And he’s avail.

And he’s not gonna say no.

He’s a safe hire.

They say Jesse Minter? I’m hiring no one with ties to a criminal - yes Jim Harbaugh.

And the job needs experience. It’s too big.

I saw an espn bit that this affair was widely known for a while, it was unclear if people had also suspected Moore had serious mental health issues happening. Makes me wonder if more people don’t lose their jobs, including the AD.

ETA: Too bad Pat Fitzgerald just took the MSU job, he could have been in the mix too.

I agree, no way they can hire Minter. It’s going to have to be someone squeaky clean.

Pat came from controversy. He’s lucky he landed. That’s how desperate schools are.

He had to know of the issues.

Now some in football for team building my ā€˜ok’ hazing. Gotta be tough.

Deboer would be great too. But Bama would be nuts to run him off.

if only Nick Saban wasn’t too old and in love with car retail

Part of a group that just plunked down $150 mil for a Toyota Lexus dealer in Montgomery after a rumored $750 mil for two Mercedes and a collision center in S Florida. Owns part of a Ferrari store by me too. This is all in the last few years.

Has anyone seen the Harbaugh coaching tree tweet? Lists many coaches who have been arrested (some ā€œjustā€ DUI) or fired (hacking, etc). At this point, they should stray away from that coaching tree.

found it: (copied from x so formatting a little wonky)

STAFFERS ARRESTED (SINCE HARBAUGH HIRE)
Denard Robinson - DUI

Steve Clinkscale - DUI

Matt Weiss - Pervert

Greg Scruggs - DUI

Fergus Connolly - DUI, Punching Police Officers, Biting Hospital Staff

Jim Minick - DUI

Sherrone Moore - Stay tuned, it’s wild

I don’t disagree, and didn’t really support him thru all of that. But, it’s important to note, he had (and still has) huge support from NU alum and many people at the school. But, someone had to take the fall. And again, I don’t disagree it should be the coach. Whether he knew or not.
