:+1:t3: but did umich get a slap on the wrist for the sign stealing scandal

I don’t care!:american_football::thinking:… It’s played on the field and Nick Saban and many agree. OSU still couldn’t stop them and like every play was a run up the middle.

I am excited to see Bryce but at a wedding in Virginia so can’t just watch the game against a team in New Mexico that likes trick plays.

I am curious how Manning does. So much pressure on him. Time to shine :american_football::flashlight::light_bulb:

I forgot how exciting this was for Freshman, didn’t see many wins last year and this was an away game but I know those kids were having a blast last night. Silly to those who aren’t participating but Toomer’s Corner is a gigantic block party after an Auburn win (which has been few and far between lately).

Everyone said that this would be a low-scoring game. I guess they were correct.

funny what winning does; other slights are overlookedšŸ˜‰. same w astros fans. ā€œdon’t do the crime if u can’t do the time.ā€ punishment not punitive nowadays.

manning not living up to hype. still it’s better to lose early in season. no vested interest in any flyover schoolsšŸ˜Ž. just like competitive contests.

Maybe this is silly, but I just feel so badly for Arch. It’s so much pressure and I really wanted to see him perform well and this has just been a big nothingburger from him.

Meanwhile, I asked my kid (freshman at Clemson) if he was out staking out the broadcast booth where ACC network was doing the game day pre-game show from and he sent me this picture… that’s his butt ugly dorm floor and those are shoes he didn’t own two weeks ago. So I guess (1) he went shopping for crocs and (2) he must not have been out and about yet…

Give tOSU a little credit there - they are good, very good.

I’m bummed for Arch, too.

I’m not surprised that we would lose this game. Asking a first-year starter to win against the defending natl champions in their house was a tall task, but like I said upthread I’ll be happy with a 10-2 record and trip to the playoffs. I think Sark’s play-callling was questionable, especially on that goal-line stand, and our penalties extended their drives and let them score. Plenty to work on.

All of this. It’s not surprising that tOSU is playing so well and winning, but I had hoped for a better opportunity for a good showing for Arch.

Guess he’s not the auto Heismam winner and first pick in the draft.

He’s got a lot of unfair pressure on him.

As a UT fan, I hope he doesn’t win the Heisman and comes back next year.

As a close observer I have been so impressed with their whole family and how all of them have conducted themselves these past two years. Arch could’ve made tons of money in NIL these past two years, but he didn’t take any deals until this year. He eschews any Heisman talk, saying he hasn’t done anything on the field yet. The Mannings have not been a presence at UT.

NIL at work. I saw 2 Arch Manning commercials during a commercial break.

Just heard the stat that we held OSU to 203 yards. You’d think that would be enough to win, huh? Our penalties killed us.

$6.8 mil. More in one year than most will make in a lifetime. Nice work if you can get it.

The over/under before the game was 47.

Sark’s play calling at the goal line, 4 straight runs? And a Philly ā€œtush pushā€ on 4th. Arch looked bad, but OSU is obviously an excellent team.

As I’m sure you’re aware, but Julian Sayin, the OSU QB, is a 1st year starter as well.

Yes, playing at home

Tall task for sure, but Michigan beat them last year 13-10 at the Horseshoe with virtually no QB (Davis Warren).

I would have bet OSU before the game, since the game was almost a pick’em, with OSU favored by around 1. But the perception in the media was that Texas was a more experienced team than Ohio State and Arch was a much better quarterback than Sayin.

Perception isn’t reality so woe to those who buy into whatever hype. The stats show us outrushing and outpassing the other team, but we lost a seven-point game on the road. I’m not worried. I can see people being disappointed if they really believed Arch was the second coming. We recruited Sayin back in the day. I knew he was a good QB. But, again, I’m good at tuning out the hype.

As far as Michigan, you know that all bets are off on rivalry games. Not even the same orbit. I expect another loss this season, and I think it could absolutely come from Oklahoma or A&M instead of Georgia, even though OK and A&M aren’t nearly as good as GA. Rivalries are a different animal.

I’ll disagree, in this instance, ā€œsame orbit.ā€

This game today was the much hyped season opener with the #1 vs #3 teams and essentially a pick’em. Julian Sayin was a 1st year starter and only won the QB battle a couple weeks ago. And Texas has/had the annointed next Heisman trophy winner and the #1 pick in either the 2026 or 2027 draft.

OSU was a 3 TD favorite in the OSU-Michigan 2024 game with Davis Warren as QB, who this year is the 4th string QB. Michigan’s 2024 offense was historically bad last year. They could not throw the ball at all.

But I’ll move along from this discussion.

OMG, I wonder if Mike Norvell knows how many times the announces talked about Gus Malzahn as they were beating Bama - Norvell is the HC, forget Gus!
