I thought everyone here in Georgia called it the Worlds Largest Cocktail Party.
That too!!
Iāve attended UGA games and GA-FL since I was a kid, and my parents are teetotalers so there are obviously a few exceptions. As a kid, I never noticed the craziness at games until the 1980 Sugar Bowl. That was over the top⦠NOLA + SEC football!
Plus a National Championship!
What a game between Texas A&M and Notre Dame!
So many good games today. Mine wasnāt one of them.
Season looks to be over
I donāt think so. I think 10-2 teams will make the playoffs. Thereās just no room for error for the Irish now.
As I was driving home from dinner this evening, I heard the hosts on Fox Sports Radio say that ND likely wonāt make the playoff now even with a 10-2 record, because the CFP Committee has changed its formula by enhancing the existing strength of schedule metric to apply greater weight to games against strong opponents. And also by adding a new ārecord strengthā metric to further quantify performance against a teamās schedule.
According to FSR, the CFP Committee doesnāt want another 2024 Indiana (11-1 entering the CFP, one bad loss to OSU) type situation.
Thinking the same re: Clemson.
Clemson could get in IF they win the ACC Championship. They would have to win all of the rest of the conference games. That is how they got in last year. Miami looks to be the team to beat this year in the conference. I donāt think that Clemson has Miami on their regular schedule. They would have to beat Florida State to get through, then beat Miami.
UCLA and Va Tech have fired their football coaches. Both teams are 0-3.
Only if they are Notre Dame, in the B1G or SEC or win a qualifying conference. No chance for anybody else.
So, like I said, I think that there will be 10-2 teams in the playoffs.
These team rankings are ridiculous - even though my team won, obviously no one watched the game. I was there and see a team with little chance of winning against any SEC team on the schedule yet they push us up 3 spots in the rankings?
Congrats to the Bulldogs for pulling it off in Neyland Stadium this weekend!
Loved seeing Stanford turn it around and win.
I had no cell reception, so I didnāt even know the outcome of the game until we got home. Probably better that way!
I still have a lot of cognitive dissonance about Stanford (and Cal) being in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Understandable. Cal is lucky to have found a home. The athletic dept. has financial issues. Both Cal & Stanford add prestige to the ACC which is full of schools with outstanding academics.
Cal and Stanford made more sense to me in the B1G conference, but the B1G didnāt want them.
Cal beat Minnesota 27-14 on Saturday night. Cal has good football team and their QB may be starting next year at a Top 10-20 next year.
