hi
im aiming for admissions in US colleges this year but the tragedy is that my college list has not been made yet. These are some of my ECs pls have a look at them and help me get started.
1.editor of the school’s biannual newsletter
2.literary captain of the school executive council
3.participated in various national science fairs and won many regional science project competitions
4.gave the macmillan exams and got distinction in english various times
5.have participated in many interschool and state level competitions and have won quite a few of them-be a radio jockey, make an ad jingle etc.
6.came 8th in the national reader’s digest interschool g.k quiz competition

pls tell me the colleges that could possibly accept me.

p.s- i get more than 90% in my school exams and have also topped the school in my tenth grade.

well i was thinking about going to the ivies but i really can’t afford to pay more than $10,000 annually.I am looking for a college that could give me financial aid…and when i say it i mean a lot of financial aid…
like around $29,000

Okay, see the thing is, with 10k, about 8k goes into room and board. Out of that 2k, it all gets eaten up in stuff like books, clothing, etc. So you’re basically looking for a full tuition scholarship.
So you’ll have to be in the top few applicants of every college to be considered for that. That leaves 2 options. 1. You apply to need-blind colleges. 2. You apply to tier 2/3 colleges, who would be willing to give you full aid.
Colleges like Colgate, Brandeis, etc. would likely accept you, but not with the sort of aid you require.
I recommend you post this in the Chances forum. More people go there, and I daresay they have more experience with suggesting colleges. Indians (generalizing here) don’t know about tier 2 colleges in general.

a lot of students told me that princeton has a really good financial aid program and if i make it in they it take care of the tuition fee and stuff…

Yes, that’s called need-blind admissions. Its not just Princeton. Harvard, MIT, Yale, and a few others have that same policy. But getting into these colleges is insanely difficult, especially for international students.

I know MIT does this too. Harvard might, though I’m not sure about this. Applying to these colleges is worth it, because of the small chance that you get in. These colleges might also give you a fee waiver (if approved by your school counselor) so applying is free.
