I didn’t respond to the email. I sort of took the email itself (not the opportunity) as one of those college emails that clog my inbox, except instead of congratulating me for the PSAT and high achievements, it congratulated me for Questbridge and high achievements.

I tried to open it on my iPod, but it said “Unable to Read Document.” I just googled it.

I got the email a day before the conference began. It’s not a Questbridge-only award and the college-visit nomination is a different process. I asked David Hunter, the CEO, about it yesterday. He said they go back and flag the best applications and forward them to the colleges. The colleges pay for the visit, similar to Windows on Williams, only the ‘screening’ for the award is based on the Questbridge app, rather than a separate Williams app. He said the results should be made available by the end of the summer.

Oh, ok. Yeah grammargirl, that’s kinda how I took it too but its still exciting! Are you guys applying? So Butters, I’m a little confused. Are you saying this Windows on Williams thing isn’t really related to the nominations?

It is not related to the nominations. It is related to us being an outstanding low income student. Anyone who is low income can apply.

I remember you, Harvard sweatshirt guy! Lol :)

What kind of stuff did Questbridge talk about? Specifically??

I feel really bad for not being able to go D: But its great that it was helpful (I’m going to force my sister to apply when she’s a junior :DD)

@ymlee822

I guess I stood out. What were you wearing that day? I think I might remember.

I don’t know if you guys noticed this but on the harvard RD 2015 forum, Questbridge students are 4 for 4 in acceptances. I knew I was applying EA but I feel my chances went up a little. Is it because we are low income that we have overcome more diversity. I think Dr. McCullough said that because we are, we cannot afford sat or act Prep so our scores are expected to be lower. I guess our scores being higher defies established norms so we are more likely to get in. I dunno. It’s just cool to see Questbridge people get accepted everywhere

@Butters1
I wasn’t wearing anything particularly special, just white jacket lol.
You were the only guy who wore a Harvard sweatshirt, and that’s why I remember you.

The schedule went CEO’s speech, workshops, presentations, founder’s speech, college fair, campus tour. Lot of things they talked about during workshops can be found on Questbridge site or collegeconfidential. But going there really motivated me, especially Questbridge founder’s speech! He made us think not only about college, but also about our future, and life goal. It was an amazing conference and was totally worth it. :)

Just wondering, how were most people dressed? I don’t want to show up looking too formal or too casual

@jacobo2880

Most people dressed somewhere between formal and casual.

So like a dress shirt and dress-pants without a tie? or more of a t-shirt with dress pants?

Most just wore a dress shirt and slacks, no tie…and then there were a few slobs that showed up in shorts and sweatshirsts ;)
jk.

What you wear really isn’t very important though; no admissions officers are going care.

I was a bit amused after having lunch with the Dartmouth admissions lady - she told me she always thinks it’s silly when people show up for interviews in suits and what not; in her opinion, sweat pants are ideal.
Just goes to show that you can never please everyone, lol.

I went in a sweatshirt and shorts. It suited the nice warm weather…until it started raining.

Does anyone have the Windows on Williams Application and is willing to forward it to me?

Mine seems to be encoded and cannot be opened properly?
Any suggestions?

Google it. I don’t think anyone’s link works to get to the application.

Yeah, the application pops up in a PDF form when you google it. Mine didn’t work either. It’s like they’e trying to trick us! haha.

So would it be inappropriate to wear a summer dress even though it’s sleeveless? I don’t want them to think I’m immodest (sp?)…or something…lol

Would a nice blouse and dark pair of jeans be okay? I know jeans tend to be frowned upon, so I’m kind of unsure.
