For any academic conference waitlistees:

I emailed and they said we should find out any good news on May 8th.

Thanks, obstinate.

The QB website will tell you all of that Bubbe. Just click on each school and you will find the information you need.

Bubbe, for the quesbridge early admissions I’m pretty sure that all of the admissions are binding- you just attend the topmost school on your list that admits you.

And so who is joining me at the Yale conference in May?

^^^^^^

NYSpinnerDan, not all QB schools are binding during the match. Yale and Stanford are not, I think there are more, but I’m not going to check the website. The best thing everybody can do that will be applying for the match is to go to the QB website and read EVERYTHING on it. The process is long and very intensive, but if you do your research and are very organized, it is well worth it. Answers to 99% of all the questions that are asked over and over again can be found at Questbridge.org.

Five QuestBridge partners were nonbinding in the Match this year. It’ll be interesting to see if next year brings any changes in the Match system.

I’m going to strongly second GA2012Mom’s advice to check out the QB website. She’s so right when she says to read EVERYTHING. There is a wealth of information there. Take advantage of it.

Taking your good advice and reading, reading —my head is spinning…Thank you!

hey question from a current hs junior:

could a finalist who does not get matched still make an ED II application, even possibly to one of the schools he/she was not matched by?

OK, so ds didn’t get a travel grant. Has anyone heard how valuable this is? Right now, we’re looking at about $700 in cost, and that’s a lot of money for us. :(

@Youdon’tsay - I responded to your question on the other thread.

Thanks!

10 char

I received an email today saying that there were still no openings for the conferences for anyone on the waitlist. I find that hard to believe since several people have said they are not attending. Did anyone else hear anything today?

Same thing! :(

Maybe they estimate yield with similar precision to colleges, and already took that into account when making offers of admission.

Getting on the waiting list is a good start to your summer. Good luck in the fall.

Well, those kids who got into the conference just yesterday got word of their travel grant awards (or lack thereof, in our case). They gave kids until May 13 to decide whether they still plan on attending. After talking about it last night and sleeping on it, we’ll probably have to decline, so at least one spot will open up!! I have a feeling that we won’t be the only ones, and you’ll be hearing something again next week. Good luck.

Youdon’tsay- how much did you end up applying for? I think if you applied for a lot they’re most likely not able to meet it cuz they’re limited on their funds. I’m sorry you guys can’t go :(

$400, which would have paid for about half the total cost.

We still need to talk about it, but if one of you ends up getting ths spot will you take copious notes and send them to me??? :)
