College Prep Scholarship Summer 2009

ahhh that’s a bummer… we shall all take good notes for those who can’t go  after all, we’re all in this together.

…(im a high school musical fanatic) hahaha

I’m not, but I get it! ;)

Good news for waitlistees (and bad for me):

I do not qualify for the travel grant and there is no way that my mom can afford to send even me by myself to the conference at Yale so I will not be attending the conference.

Can you guys please take good notes on what goes on the conference and post it back here? It will be greatly appreciated.

Ask them to send you the information that you might be missing - after all, they want to encourage your interest; they chose you. I believe most of what you will learn is found on their website anyway.

Yea, I read somewhere in a really random article some guy wrote that basically you get the opportunity to talk to QB people and admissions people and ask pretty much anything you want. Since I live kinda close to Stanford (in the same state), I’ll prob just drive there, and it’ll only cost about 60 bucks for a hotel. Gl to the waitlists

I received the same email saying there is still no openings for the students on the conference waiting list. I emailed them back to ask how long should we be looking for something about getting into one of them. The email I got back from QB says there will be no openings for the ones on the waiting list. :(

Bummer! I wondered about this. They probably account for dropouts to get the preferred yield and only go to the WL if they’ve grossly underestimated the dropouts.

Did anyone get something like this, or know anything about it? Just got it this morning.

stanford conference : 2 days!

im leaving tomorrow. uber excited.

see yall there! :D

same here, leaving tomorrow. what are you planning on bringing?

Have fun, y’all!

just a change of clothing, camera, pen & pencil, all those goodies
oh, and snacks to eat on the airplane haha

Enjoy the Stanford Conference!
My GS will be right behind you at the Yale Conference!

Re: the Amherst Telementoring post by flyingllama…
I went to the site - you can apply yourself if not nominated by Questbridge.
My GS has a specific Questbridge person assigned to assist him -
Do you think applying for the Amherst Telementoring would be ‘stepping on the person’s toes’ ?? perhaps duplicating informaton (and help?) and would Questbridge be aware of this ‘extra’??

FYI - Not interested in Amherst as a choice!

Bumping to ask participants how it went!

It was very helpful and informative! There is nothing that can’t be found on the QB site and on CC though.
I thought people were extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions you had. The College fair was pretty cool too, since we got to speak with some admissions officers/counselors.
A lot of the info was taken directly from the QB site, they just explained it to everyone clearer, so that everyone could understand. They talked about the personal statement, financial aid, and the Match process, which can be confusing for some I guess. Also, each partner college had a representative who spoke about the college. Tour was cool. Food was good.

I’m glad you had a good time and got some good food!

yeah tomistheman is pretty much right. The information was just repetitive of what could be found on the website, but it was just nicer listening it in person.

and plus, the speaker at the end was pretty motivational :]
which group were you in?

well, i was in group 1

Did any parents attend the Stanford conference? If so, what were your impressions?
