I have no idea whether there is enough interest in college volleyball to keep a thread going, but I thought I’d see. If not, I’ll delete after a couple of days.
I am sorta obsessed with college vball and watch way too much. My team, not surprisingly, is UT as in Texas. I saw them in person yesterday in an amazing, five-set match against Stanford. I’m considering making the drive to FW this week to see them play Louisville as well as watch Kentucky play Pitt. Four Sweet 16 teams in one night? Yes, thank you!
We’ll be watching two Clemson games at parents weekend, largely because they are free. I know next to nothing about volleyball (as in, I only watch it when it’s in the Olympics) but I’m ready and willing to get hyped up and educated over the next two weeks.
I saw UT sweep Baylor last night. That’s three matches in three venues in less than two weeks. We look so strong. I really hope that we meet Nebraska eventually.
We left after the first two sets - it was like 8:15 and we still needed to find dinner. Clemson’s lost the first set (which was very close) then blew out their opponent for the second set. It was super fun to watch.
Our regular venue is sold out for the season, but it only holds about 4,300. I love it there – intimate, loud and cheap concessions with no alcohol – but I went to the preseason game this year against Stanford at the Moody, where the basketball teams play, and it was sooo fun. I think the novelty made it more exciting. They probably could sell the 10,899 tix for every game, but I doubt the level of excitement could be sustained. It was just so electric.
