I attached a youtube link in the additional info section of my common app, but no college has looked at them yet. I applied Ivies, and other top 20 schools. Does this mean i didn’t make committee and got rejected?
It could mean TMI (too much information). Did you describe what the link was in your essay? Adcoms don’t have the time to watch videos unless it is an integral part of your application.
I said it was related to a small award I won. Do u think it means I’m rejected then?
Not necessarily, the adcoms felt it was irrelevant to you application…TMI.
Okay so I should still be in the running?
Nobody knows. But it is probably not necessary to view the video to appreciate the fact that the award was won. Remember, just a few years ago just listing the award is all someone could do. These folks have very limited time.
do u know anyone who got in without officers looking at links?
Links may show a level of desperation.
What i mean is it’s just a short message in the additional information section and a link to Youtube. I didn’t do it like “HEY LOOK AT THIS” It was more like "here’s a link to my video: "
bump
Why are you bumping? What more do you want people to say? The only people who know the answer to your question are AOs, and they aren’t telling.
An AO will spend about 10 minutes reading an application. More info does not mean that they will spend more time reading, so would looking at your link have been a better use of those minutes than simply reading the application? It could mean that there was enough information in your application for them to make their decision, positively or negatively, without looking at additional info. But you will never know, so don’t stress about it.
Please stop obsessing. We can’t give you the answer you seem to so desperately want.
We can tell you, and have told others repeatedly in the past, that it’s not a good idea to include links because adcoms simply don’t have the time to open them.
