Northeastern had a 7% acceptance rate this past cycle.

(not counting NUIn and NU Bound students). But I agree, just as reachy as the rest of the schools in said group.

Both Northeastern (6.7%) and Dartmouth (6.2%) had similar acceptance rates, are you saying they’re equivalent reach schools? Do you think most people that get into Northeastern will get into Dartmouth? One of the differences between the colleges on the reach list and Northeastern is yield.

Dartmouth actively filters for people who they think don’t mind / like the great outdoors, cold weather with snow, remote location etc

By active filtering, do you mean reaching out more to colder states or accepting more kids from colder states? I don’t think Dartmouth does any active filtering like that, California is still the top state wrt to most admitted students, yes it also has the most HS students but why is Dartmouth accepting all these kids from CA if they know the won’t enroll because of the cold? I do agree on the remote location. Anyway I think we’re getting slightly off-topic now.

It is more the outdoors in the middle of nowhere that you need to signal that you are very happy about. If you strongly come across as a city person, it won’t happen for you.

Time to get back to the OPs question.

If you wish to continue the discussion on Dartmouth move it to that forum or use PMs.

If you are not accepted yield does not matter because you will not be able to go there.
