I think the OP was very hungry when he/she made this thread. No seriously! That’s how our brain works.

^no i’m sorry you’re wrong, i was infact sleepy because it was somewhere around midnight.

I didn’t know we were talking about extremes now. There is no college here where crickets jumping out of rice is the norm.

^ Hahah. That’s pretty funny.

My advice: I am not vegetarian (I am not even Indian actually) but I think you’ll be most comfortable in a big city college. I say this because if, on some days, you find the vegetarian options at the cafeteria to be less than enticing, you can always grab a meal at one of the closest ethnic restaurants.

That said, most people just adjust to the local cuisine to avoid the unnecessary expense that is off-campus dining.

@bluebox anyway i exaggerated it it was dead by the time i opened my tiffin. and oh it happens in the IIT mess sometimes. The point i wanted to highlight is good food is always welcome. ;)

@princetondreams no man it aint funny if you happen to be the person who was about to eat that rice, and eating frequently at restaurents isnt really economical.

PrincetonDreams: You aren’t Indian?

Hmmmm I’m Indian and most of the schools I’m applying to are in Boston or NYC. Think I’ll be fine? Im going to continue to follow this thread haha

this website as an intresting way of ranking, there are grades for colleges,
www..com/rankings/campus-dining/

A+ are Bowdoin, Cornell univ, Univ of Georgia, NotreDame, Virginia tech and Dartmouth.

The chat filter doesn’t like your url.

haha hmmm it seems so actually it is c ollege p rowler

but why is ******* filtered??

I am an Indian vegetarian but I don’t care about that contamination thing. Would I be able to find normal (non-Indian) vegetarian food at most colleges if I don’t care about the contamination thing? I’m a lacto-ovo-vegetarian.

Yea, you’ll be able to find enough stuff. Vegetarianism is popular here.

As long as there’s an Indian restaurant I can go to when I get too sick of American blandness,I’ll survive :)

^+1!

Putturani aren’t you already at a university? I remember reading some of your “accepted!” posts I think.

@perfectpixie but the Indian restaurants in the US are BAD! Be careful while eating there

Noo, I’m still applying. Wish I was already accepted though!

Who doesn’t lol

I agree with LittlePrincess. Most Indian restaurants in this country are horrible. Only exceptions are those found in a few high density pockets. For example, I really enjoyed food at couple of restaurants we went to on Devon Ave in Chicago. Similar experience in the bay area (on El Camino Real) and Houston (Holcroft). I heard that there are some good ones in Edison NJ as well. Only Fresh stuff you get at most places are rice and naan. I have never eaten non-veg. So, I can not comment on the quality of tanduri chicken etc.

San Jose had this amazing Indian restaurant. Simply amazing food! Yummmmmmmmm
