Colleges with best food??

Lol and I remember eating at Palace of Dosas in Buffalo, NY where dosa was 10USD a pop lol

$10/dosa is not too unreasonable considering the cost/volume of production. From an affordability POV perhaps it is more like Rs 50/dosa. You will go insane if you use exchange rates.

Oh damn then. I grew up in a household where the amount of chilly and spices is triple the amount in any other normal household. My grandma cooks and nothing can stop her from putting in heaped spoons of all the spices in the world. The food is deeelish though.

I suppose I’ll have to survive with pepper shakers.

Wait! I just noticed the username.Putturani is a girl!
Yay!

Omg I second the poster’s who said Virginia Tech!!! I go to college 15 min away from Tech and their food is amazing! It doesn’t hurt that they just got a Chipotle this month either…

Idk about other cities, but Chicago and New York both have amazing food - Indian or otherwise. I just had dosa… ■■■■. SO good.

And contrary to popular belief, my best meals [a starter and a main dish] in this country have cost me ~15 bucks including tip.

And I’m one of those who goes on food review sites and posts reviews so yeah :p

Ooh the food near Columbia is goood! There is a really good Tamilian masala dosa van right in front of Columbia. The dosa from there was better than sarvana bhavan. But yeah, if you’re in the smaller towns, unless you have a strong digestive system, be careful about what you eat.

Lol yes I am a girl :)

@Bball: I happen to be that poster. It is KNOWN for it’s food! I was gonna apply there mainly for it’s food, aside from the fact that it’s a good engg school. Do you go to UVa? How good is the college for Computer Science? I have it on my apply list but I’m only applying as a last resort kinda thing. It’s an amazing college, no doubt. I loved the brochure they sent me.

@Prateek: Yelp FTW :P

@aniruddhc No I don’t go to UVA, I wish I was smart enough for that lol. I go to Radford University which is literally 15 min away from Tech. I was a slacker in high school so I got accepted to a few schools, but chose Radford because it’s in state for me, but I’m applying to transfer to Tech after this year even though it’s sort of a long shot because of my high school record.

Anyway, were you asking about the CS program for Tech or UVA?

Oh, okay…

High school performance doesn’t matter for transfer applicants, right?

CS program for UVa…

Well I’m only a freshman in college, so it will likely still matter a decent amount, but we’ll see what happens.

To answer your question, when you’re looking into a school like UVA generally all their programs will be very good, some better than others of course, but it is an excellent school so most programs will follow suit and also be at least above average.

Anway, if you google something like “top 100 schools for computer science” you’ll see a bunch of different sites that have ranked schools overall, or schools for particular programs. For instance, Gre Guide ranks UVA number 33 for computer science (not sure what year this was ranked), and US News ranks it at number 28 for computer science (ranked for year 2010).

You can also skim through their website if you want specific information on the program at UVA.

Hope this helps!

Good stuff! Thanks, I’ll go through the website and read the brochure that they’ve sent me :)

Ooh, Ani remember earlier I was going green hearing about your getting brochures and me getting none? Now I’m getting brochures too! It’s exciting to get them even if they don’t mean anything ! ^_^

Hahaha which universities?

I’ve gotten brochures from practically every university under the sun. Seriously. All HYPSM’s, all top, bottom, low, average, whatever universities.

^ i bet you didnt get one from Lund University

Lund is in Sweden! :P

yo my freind you seem to be well informed. But in fact it is under the sun

Usnwr top 400.

Yes I am well informed :P

I don’t like besan ke laddoo.
And I know, a year on from now, I’ll be jumping at besan ke laddoo if I find any abroad.
