@ro8271 Luckily, my stats test was Monday instead, but I’ll pray for your grade I know the feeling!
@twix123 have u already gotten in?
You guys are lucky you go to a prep school.
I go to a not so great public school in the middle of no where
Walking down college walk was literally my favorite moment ever. It’s crazy how you escape the bustling city of New York and emerge into the oasis, that is, Columbia University.
Looking to the left and seeing the magnificent Low Library, then turning to the right and seeing Butler… man, I can’t even describe the feeling!!! ^:)^
@soph1112 Got my likly letter beginning of November, but should get my actual acceptance tomorror like hopefully the rest of you.
@twix123 lucky you! congrats!
@twix123 I’ve heard “likely letter” a lot can you explain to me what it is?
@PilotKhyle I spent 3 weeks on campus this summer for their summer program (I did biomedical engineering) and I absolutely adored it. Hands down one of the best experiences of my life, summer there was gorgeous and I had an absolute blast and learned a ton, too! Everything was in bloom on campus and it just felt like home. Now I can only hope that tomorrow lends good news and I get to call it home for four years!
@soph1112 It’s a letter that pretty much says you are highly guaranteed a spot because you’re really good at something (usually sports, but sometimes super high academic achievements). My cousin got one from Columbia too but went elsewhere.
@twix123 are you an athlete? congrats!
@dr0wning yeah @twix123 has posted on the thread before that they’re an athlete… track and field I believe.
I visited during summer I think and it was beautiful. I visited the library and walked around campus and I was just in awe staring at all the gorgeous architecture and design and everything omg I was in love. I imagined myself being there so I hope tomorrow will be a happy day!!
@PilotKhyle Sounds like an awesome introduction to a Why Columbia Essay!
@soph1112 You are basically in with a likely letter. It might say “likely” but it’s more like “almost guaranteed”. As long as you don’t have C’s or get into a huge trouble, you can forget about checking the portal and your decision and whatnot and just go straight to the orientation at the end of August.
@dr0wning Yup I am a middle distance runner going to be on the track team.
Got this on Nov. 5th
I am writing to inform you that your application to Columbia has been evaluated and that you have been designated as a likely candidate for admission. Ivy policy prohibits us from issuing a formal letter of acceptance, but if you maintain your academic performance and good standing in high school, you can expect to receive a favorable response to your application.
The Committee on Admissions was impressed with the combination of interest, talent, and achievement you have shown thus far. You and your family have every right to be proud of your success. I cannot emphasize enough, however, the importance of continued strong standing-academically and civically-in your senior year. We have found that students who do not continue to work hard now meet with difficulty during the first year of college. I know how you will not disappoint us in that regard.
@Jseesyou2 I actually didn’t use it at all…
I felt it would be too cliche
@twix123 what times and what events do you run (4,5,8?)
@twix123 wow, nice!
I’m a little doubtful of the second paragraph. Columbia, if a student is smart enough to get in, slacking a bit senior year isn’t going to erase 12 years of education… I don’t think that would really affect college difficulty as much as they claim…
When is the last time you guys hear from Columbia?
@PilotKhyle it would be so funny if you included something about coming to hunger VERY fast lmao
