@dr0wning top 15%
Don’t worry too much, I have a horrible GPA so we’re not all perfect! Hoping that the fact that I’m a nationally ranked fencer will make up for that.
lol, I kid. I’m technically nationally ranked but it’s not an amazing rank. But it seems like everyone on CC is nationally/internationally ranked in some way.
@michigangirl2016 I know how I rank but it’s unofficial… but i thought that rank is one of those important stats like gpa and sat/act
@dr0wning and @michigangirl2016 while 90% of students who are accepted here are in the top 10% of their graduating class, if your school doesn’t rank you will not at all be penalized for that! Admissions looks for a competitive GPA, whatever that means for your school. Each admissions officer works with a specific region, so they likely know the details of your school already. They also have fact sheets provided by your school about what typical GPA and success on state testing rates look like, so they have a sense for where you fit in your school. Your college counselors and teachers likely provided more information as well, so don’t worry if your school doesn’t rank, mine didn’t!
@neuromajor If I’m unofficially in the top 5-6% will they know that?
Thanks for the info and reassurance
im still so nervous and I have to wait until school ends ahhh
@dr0wning I’m just a fellow applicant, but your college counselor should give a relatively good idea of how competitive a student you are in their rec.
@corinboon I read my counselor’s rec and he mentioned my stats but I dont remember him writing anything about how competitive I am other than most rigorous courseload, very competitive… like, what specifically would they say?
How bad is it if I got several B’s throughout high school, yet I am ranked in the top 3% of my class. I take all IB classes.
@dr0wning My school does top 8% and I am in it.
@dr0wning no clue about that… I’m just going off what my counselor has told me; my school doesn’t officially rank either
5 more hours of school, then torturous waiting
I have peer tutoring today so I can’t even go home to wallow if I get rejected. I have to suck it up and help people with their homework
I’m so incredibly nervous, I haven’t been this anxious for a long time. My stomach feels really fluttery
I left school because I have too much anxiety to sit in a class room with calm people but have to go back in an hour to take a physics test :(( help
I have a 2190 how bad is that
@turquoisedonut lol. It’s good…
@dr0wning I’m BARELY top 10%.
Thank you so much, this was really nice to read.
@Yomo710 and @dr0wning and everyone else who’s concerned about rank, again, it’s really really dependent on your school. If you get a few B’s but you’re in the top of your class because your high school is really competitive, columbia understands that. You are both well within normal for successful columbia applicants, which again GPA is one of many things that admissions is considering, but you shouldn’t be worrying about it.
@neuromajor I have more than a few Bs but I’m 5-6%, I’ve been told that 3.8 UW is considered low
Hey guys if you need to pass time play 2048
