And for me I had this “verification tax filer” in blue colour added to my checklist too yesterday.

All read packaging? My parents foreign tax returns were added on Friday

Any students from India received a likely letter?

I was definitely not one of them

my aid portal is still there however the message that was at the bottom is now gone

I haven’t even heard of any that received interviews…

Now the server for the Financial Aid Tracker is down…

are Columbia students called Lions?

Yes. The Columbia fight song is “Roar, Lion, Rose.”

Ugh, typo. “Roar, Lion, Roar.”

Idk why I find this funny since lions aren’t even native to the US…probably has to do with Columbia’s history (I think they had a royal-sounding name at first!)

I think it does date back to royal heraldry, but I’m not 100% sure. I believe the crowns in the symbol do refer back to the English monarchy.

THE LIONS | More on the Lions

The Lion was first adopted as a sports symbol by the Columbia University Student Board in 1910, following the presentation of a blue and white banner bearing a large Lion with the motto, “Leo Columbiae” (Lion of Columbia). George Brokow of the Class of 1909 first suggested the lion nickname as a reference to the institution’s royal past. The University was originally named King’s College since its charter in 1754 by King George II of Great Britain. The lion is the animal depicted on the English coat of arms. The original banner was the gift of the Society of the Early Eighties.

COLUMBIA COLORS | More on Light Blue & White

The Columbia colors, light blue and white, were appropriated from the campus Philolexian and Peithologian Societies, the former claiming the blue and the latter the white, and were used as a combination as early as 1852. The particular shade of light blue became popularly known as Columbia Blue around the turn of the century and is in common usage today as a shade of blue. Several other colleges claim “Columbia Blue” as one of their school colors.

Makes sense thanks for this! The UK in turn does not have lions either lol (except on their royal coat of arms)

Wow, I never knew Columbians were Lions. Recently, I found out that there was a separate financial aid portal. Still, I couldn’t access mine because it said my Columbia ID was already associated with an account, so I sent an email. They gave me my login details and the password was Lions2024!, it’s interesting since I may be rejected as an international asking for aid. But now I can’t even see the documents again on the portal.
It’s nice learning these new things. Chicago Maroons, Columbia Lions. Also, they mentioned that documents marked as received after the fin aid deadline will not adversely impact an application.

My son finally got his financial aid portal to work and got to his account today. But it doesn’t show any documents. At the top, it says “Award Year” and then has 2024-2025. Is that what others are seeing? Or can you see documents? Does it say “Award Year”? Just curious. Looking for crumbs…

On the top left, click on Menu. Prior to like Monday, clicking Menu would reveal a drop down list with two options: Home Page (the one that you described above) and a Financial Aid and Messages Page. The latter (if visible) should have a list of your son’s FA docs and any messages from Columbia regarding aid. For instance, mine (when it was visible) said that I needed to submit my parents’ 2022-2023 tax docs.
