Can you complete two master degrees (Financial Engineering and Industrial Engineering) in One year in Columbia IEOR?
The best place to ask is going to be the actual programs themselves, but the answer is going to depend on Columbia’s policies.
Both programs require 36 credits, so on face, it doesn’t seem possible to do them both in one year. However, their requirements might overlap enough. There are 7 required core courses for the MSFE and 4 different core courses required for the MSIE. However, the MSIE looks flexible enough that you could complete the core courses for the MSFE as electives for the MSIE program, or vice versa.
The other complication is whether or not Columbia will allow you to enroll in both programs simultaneously and double-count the courses you take towards both master’s degree.
The areas seem related enough that you could get an MS in one and build a concentration in the other while you were in graduate school by taking the courses. That might make more sense than trying to complete two master’s degrees in one year.
