Columbia General Studies 2020 Spring

@s014131 Not sure about 1 or 2, but for your 3rd question, I don’t believe it makes any difference if you submit an unofficial or official transcript. I submitted unofficial transcripts, was accepted, then had to send over official ones. As long as there are no discrepancies you should be good to go

@s014131 For 1 and 2 you may need to call instead of email for clarification. Better to get some real-time assistance for complicated UI q’s like those.

For 3, I submitted unofficials and got accepted. Officials are required by the time you enroll (also helps determine which classes you don’t need to take)

Hi, everyone. I am trying to get my SAT scores, but it has been over 10 years since I took it. I don’t know my test date and registration number. (I lost the hardcopy of the report and I can’t seem to log on to college board account.)
So, I called them asked to get my archived scores. (cost me $31) BUT they said they may not be able to retrieve it. (Plus it will take 2 to 4 weeks to look for it.)

Do you think I should just take the Online general studies admissions exam?
If so, has anyone started to study for it? Or had taken it? I cannot seem to find any information online about the test. How is it comparable to the SATs?

@kevzzang1234

I took the SATs back in 2015 and have decided not to send them in. I suggest taking the Online General Studies Admissions exam. I personally didn’t study for it, but if you really want to you can use an SAT study guide for reference. It’s basically a shorter SAT less the Arithmetic. The questions focused on grammar, language and writing. The questions are practically the same as something you would see on an SAT.

There was also a timed writing section at the end.

Anyone got accepted even if did not meet the English requirement ? Are they very strict about their TOEFL/DUOLINGO/IELTS score requirements? I am thinking of applying on fall. Thanks

@NoSpeakEnglish Did you get accepted even if it did not meet their English score requirements?

Only DUOLINGO score was mentioned during the spring online admission session; its score should be at least 120. You should contact admission office for more information regarding those exams.

Hey yall,

I submitted just submitted my application for Fall 2020 before that Priority EA deadline (Jan 15). They say unofficial documents and scores can be used for review process, but on the application status there is a red X next to “Awaiting Test Score (ACT, SAT, etc.)” Would my application be considered complete and move to review process before Jan 15 without those official scores being sent?

Anyone had a similar experience?

Hi, Which test score are you requesting to be reviewed under and when did you complete the test?

@Humble12 ACT scores that were taken a few years ago.

Hi, Got it. The score you choose to be reviewed under must be received (not awaiting) by Jan. 15th for the PEA decision. Today is the last day, if you still see the red X then immediately contact admissions.

Quiet room where no one will disturb (including outside noise) for at least three hours. Biggest tip: practice a standard essay template (google SAT essay template), memorize it, and since the essay is timed, I used my scrap paper to outline a standard essay template (it’s auto graded so following a structured format will help).

If I am late and you already took it, how did it go? Did you check your score report? did you get in? I just applied for fall early action.

@MnMarine00

And did you get in??? I got 300 on both and 7/8 on essay.

@MegsNY

How did you apply to Cornell and NYU as a non-traditional student?
