Regarding the entrance exam that I have to take…

I haven’t taken physics yet, what book can i use to study physics for the science section?

also what do u recommend for the bio section?

I haven’t taken physics yet, what book can i use to study physics for the science section?

also what do u recommend for the bio section?

bump…plz?

Honestly, i had never taken AP Bio or physics for the entrance test and i thought it was a joke…the bio is like reading charts and BASIC BASIC stuff…physics isnt that bad…id just look at the first few equations in an SAT II book or something, no need to study really for it

alright thanks…anything else i shud know?

did u score really high on the amc etc.?

i didnt even take the amc til this year and i got a 102 (ha yeah i know, barely made it) the tests not hard dont stress out

cliffs and “5 steps to a 5” for bio :)

cliffs for physics?

cliffs for bio, and “5 steps to a 5” for physics. sorry. but the latter writes well on both subjects.

insecure101, trust me on this. it’s really not something you can study for. you might read all of cliff’s and find one or two questions whose answers you found in the book. just relax.

i don’t know any physics…

i kno that they’ll take that fact into consideration but i need it in order to increase my chances etc…

just calm down, honestly, i didnt even open a book for the test and i was fine

carolly1188 can I know some stats etc. of yours?

I just want to see how you are relative to me, so that I know that the test isnt too hard…

-thanks

Wow, this is my third year in SHP… I hadn’t even taken physics yet when i took the test, and i got in. As someone earlier said, the admissions exam for this is really silly; know your basic bio & chem (cliffs may even be too much… i don’t know if you’re an NY resident, but it’s Regents-level stuff).

Dont worry about physics, I skipped all the physics questions and still got in. Most of the science questions were on biology but they were all rather easy. None of the science was near the AP level, so you just have to know the basics.

The math part was trickier, but not impossible.

Good luck ^^

Insecure, I think your username fits you quite aptly. haha jk. but like everybody else said, don’t worry about it. getting stressed over it can only hurt you.

Anyone know the easiest way to learn the basics of circuits (physics)?

I’m taking it too! With like 6 other Jersey friends hehe. We’re going to dominate CSHP next year. Mad stoked!

So what kind of concepts do you need to know?

I asked people in my school. Some say it was easy, some say it was hard…

I gotta start reviewing my bio & chem ;P

dude…the test is basic. you don’t need to study for it. i took it last year, didn’t expect much, and got in this year.

trust me! science section is basic, math section [there are two] is basic, and there’s a hard math section that is like maybe precalc level. like math IIC level, almost.

good luck kiddos!

I think it also depends a lot on the grade during which you take the test. They might rank by age. Of course, they won’t expect a freshman to know a ton of physics.
