Columbia Sciences Po Fall 2019 Entry

@blackhairedgirl Don’t worry about that! If you were offered an interview, it’s because they genuinely want to hear from you. I’m sure a connectivity issue will not impact your decision. In fact, when I had my interview, my laptop had just broken and they were very accommodating with me!

Yes @ParkJiSung777 total time from when I walked in the building to when I walked out

@ParkJiSung777 I know that it can not be compared but my daughter had a in person interview last year at Columbia and it lasted 45 minutes with two representatives. But I agree with the other posters: You can not read too much into it and every situation is different. March is a tough time to wait for all the college replies. Try not to let it make you crazy…

Hey, just had my interview! even though I was able to communicate everything that I wanted to, I think it was unorganised and I went on rambling out of my nervousness. Not the best way to present yourself I guess. I actually told them how nervous I was. As long as you communicated everything, how much weightage do you think your presentation would have (it wasn’t all that bad, but not as good as I expected I guess)? @GSTourGuides

My interview was purely about current events. We had some interesting discussions and talked for the whole 30 mins. I mentioned a country within the middle East that interests me in my essays and they ONLY asked me about that country so all the research I did on other countries before the interview ended up being useless. I think it went well but a couple questions tripped me up. I probably said um a little bit more than I should’ve as well. Hoping for the best!

Anyone applying to Middle East and Mediterranean?

does anyone know how many dual BA students Le Havre takes? Whats the competition for the program at Le Havre like? @GSTourGuides

i’m also applying middle east and Mediterranean, and very nervous bc (obviously) there’s a lot of complicated events going on there right now and I don’t want to misstate something! in my friend’s Reims interview they asked her very specific statistical questions, anyone else have this experience? does anyone else have any tips?

@iguanodon For mine they mainly only asked me about the country I talked about most in my essays. I did a lot of research on other middle eastern countries as well but didn’t end up using it. They didn’t ask me anything very specific but they asked a few hard questions about general knowledge. I hope I did okay because there were a couple times I wasn’t 100% sure and kind of just gave the best I could without sounding dumb.

Hi @blackhairedgirl,

Don’t worry too much about that. The interview is more about how you think, process, and converse than anything else. Everyone’s nervous–I certainly was!–and interviewers understand that.

The Le Havre campus has the fewest spots of the three campuses, around a dozen I believe, but that doesn’t necessarily change acceptance rates because the campuses are self-selective. In other words, since students must pick one campus as the primary focus of their application, there may be fewer students applying to the smaller campuses than the larger ones. The numbers change each year based on student interest, so I wouldn’t spend too much time fretting. I can assure you that the admissions teams from both SciencesPo and Columbia are interested in picking the most dynamic students possible for each campus. As such, they may admit a few more or a few less students per campus in a given year depending on the applicant pool.

Best of luck to all of you and please don’t stress too much–the most important thing you can be doing right now is enjoying your senior year spring!

@GSTourGuides When can we expect to get results? My interviewer told me sometime in March but wasn’t very specific. Also, Sciences Po Undergrads have guaranteed spots for Science Po Paris Graduate School, does the same apply for the Dual BA?
Thanks!

Hi @Teeetwoone,

Decisions will be sent by April 1. There is no set date. While they could come in March, it would be the very end of March, around the time when other American universities release their decisions. All Dual BA students are guaranteed a spot in the SciencesPo masters program of their choice with the exception of journalism and dual degree programs at the masters level, which require separate applications. You can browse SciencesPo’s graduate offerings here: http://www.sciencespo.fr/en/education/graduate-studies#Master%E2%80%99s%20degree%20programmes

As always, please feel free to continue reaching out with questions!

@GSTourGuides Since the interview is the “2nd stage of admissions,” is the interview the ONLY thing they’re judging from here on out? Or is the interview viewed alongside our essays, grades, LORs, scores, etc. for the final decision?

I’m not sure how they decide the questions they are going to give you beforehand or if they do it at that exact moment. I applied to the Reims program (North America) and was constantly keeping up with politics in the US and Canada but they ended up asking me about my home country (Spain). Did any non-US students have questions about their home country?

@margosp Yeah, I was asked about my home country as well (Rwanda) and not much about current affairs. I’m not too worried though

Any Le Havre applicants who made it to the interview?

Anyone get an email about missing information on their financial aid application? Turns out I accidentally didn’t submit my FAFSA but they still let me fix it. Good sign? Idrk

@Caookies I also got that and I looked in last year’s thread where someone got the email and they also got accepted but most likely this isn’t a sign and they sent it to everyone

I didn’t apply for aid, and I haven’t received any mail

Any speculation on when the results may be out ?
