Anyone do their interview yet?
Thanks @icannotdeal
Has anyone already had their interview yet / coming up soon? How did it go?
Hi everyone,
@migratingcoconut, about 175 interview offers are extended and between 100 and 115 of those students are typically admitted. Doing your interview over Skype weighs absolutely no bearing on your admissions decisions. Please do not feel pressurized to come to New York—I did not, as was the case for many of my peers, and we were all just fine!
@exper5, I would not be too concerned about major-specific questions, but do be prepared to talk about general trends and themes you may want to explore in the Dual BA Program. For example, if you’re interested in EU politics, you could discuss Brexit. But if you mentioned that you are considering majoring in history, you would not be expected to recite specific dates of treaties. It is important to spend some time thinking about which SciencesPo campus you picked and why you are interested in that region of the world.
Best advice is to know that the interview is more about how you think and who you are than what you know!
Has anyone had their interviews yet? If not, good luck!
Mine is tomorrow! (in person at columbia in nyc) I’m excited but also worried about the current events questions
I just had my interview for the Euro-North America program online. It was super short (~15 mins) so I’m super scared - do you think this is a sign it went well or really badly?
@jujunette01 what kind of questions did they ask? any current events / euro-america relations? or mostly why you wanna do the program?
I don’t think you should be worried @jujunette01 maybe they were impressed enough that they didn’t need to hear any more
Were they nice or very stern?
@exper5 They started by asked me why I was interested in this program and why I was a good fit. They asked some pretty broad questions but also some specific ones to make sure I knew what this program is about. At one point the representative from SP asked for a specific current event example, but otherwise, we didn’t talk about current events.
@icannotdeal They asked some questions in which they were definitely making sure I knew what I was talking about, but I hope I answered in the correct way. They must’ve asked me questions for less than 12 minutes before they asked if I had any questions for them.
@GSTourGuides Do you have any idea of what a short interview implies, if anything?
@jujunette01 Don’t worry about the length of the interview! They’re meant to be relatively short and there is no set list of questions so they vary.
@prospie2023 how was it?
It’s in a couple hours @icannotdeal
@prospie2023 Good Luck!!
@GSTourGuides Hi, am I allowed to take notes (i.e flashcards) into the interview?
Mine lasted around 30-40 minutes; they asked about everything I expected: my background, academics, a couple current events, my interest in the program, future goals
I was so nervous! Haha probably because this is my top choice and this interview actually legitimately matters
Good luck everybody!
@icannotdeal You cannot take notes into the interview, but don’t worry–it’s best not to feel scripted anyway. If it would help you feel more comfortable, I’d recommend talking through things you’d like to convey to your interviewers (perhaps issues you care about or why this program is a good fit) a day or two beforehand. Good luck, everyone!
did anyone face any connectivity issues while doing their virtual interview? I had a lot of issues and had to get my interview rescheduled. though they were really sweet, do you think this can reduce my chances, probably because they thought I wasn’t responsible enough to arrange good net?
@GSTourGuides
anyone doing their virtual interviews between the 3rd and 8th?
@prospie2023 30-40 minutes including the Q and A period they give you?
