COLUMBIA TRANSFER: Fall 2020

Did anyone’s checklist disappear? It’s past April 29th and there still is the checklist on my portal.

Received a request for an update on spring grades. I had submitted the mid term report back in march and my school went to mandatory pass/fail so we will not have grades this term. Did any one find out what this rquest means?

Did you put your letter grades in your mid-term report?

yes, the teachers included my grades at that point.

I think generally, when colleges request additional information it means that the student is on some sort of bubble (this is what some UC schools do as well as some privates_ So it is a good sign in that they are interested enough to reach out, but it may also mean that you are in between admission and a waitlist or rejection. Whereas not receiving any contact might be a more neutral area and likely means they rather easily categorized you (accept, waitlist, reject) without needing to ponder any extra material. However, because at this point we have no control over it, so there is no point in stressing. Everything will work out one way or another.

hi guys! I’m so confused so I never submitted a midterm report but my portal says it was submitted on April 15th. How would it have gotten sent to them?? Anyone know? My school is run w 2 semesters btw

People who got a request for additional information: did you ever send your midterm report/does it say on your applicant status portal that your midterm report was received?

Hi whoever is curious:
I am from a school using the quarter system, so I simply submitted my winter quarter grade. I believe Columbia takes it as the midterm report. It was marked as received on 4/15, just as someone has mentioned. What they requested was something different. All items on my portal are marked as checked and are not they asked for. I do not know what that means (whether it is a good or bad indicator) so I am so stressed out. Hope that helps.

You’d better email them? I think they might mess up stuff from yours with another applicant from your university.

@YellowDress It’s odd that they asked for an item that wasn’t listed as required on the portal - maybe it’s a sign of interest? Fingers crossed for you! I think if it’s related to academics, and your winter quarter grades are fine, you shouldn’t worry about it

@sadgjhkdsh probably, I am so scared. Do you think it is a good or bad sign that we didn’t receive an email?

@YellowDress what did they ask you for?

When I applied RD they sent out the decision date email on the Thursday March 21st, 7 days before the decision was released on Thursday March 28th. And I think someone else stated this year that people were notified on Friday March 20th, 6 days before the decision was released on Thursday March 26th. So If we haven’t gotten a 1 week notice at this point I don’t expect decisions to be coming out this week (but who knows). I think at the minimum we’ll be notified before the end of the week (likely Thursday or Friday) for the release date.

Also the portal is interestingly still open…

Has someone asked when exactly they’re releasing the decisions? :frowning:

I applied to last year’s transfer, they sent out email around four days after the checklist disappears to notify the candidate that the decision will be released in 7 days. Given this timeline, I don’t think it will be next week.

Given that time line if the checklist disappears tomorrow it would put them at the 15th and they claimed decisions before the 15th. If it is next week I don’t think it will be early in the week. But it kinda seems like all bets are off for transfer admission this year

The checklist and COVID-19 warnings are both gone now.

“Admissions decisions will be available online on Friday, May 8, 2020, after 5:00 p.m.”

OMGGG!!!

Boy my heart literally stopped beating for a second when I saw that email in my inbox
