COLUMBIA TRANSFER: Fall 2020

They just sent out an email saying that they’re releasing decisions on this Friday (May 8th) after 5pm.

Yeah, all decisions online… I wonder if it is possible to request a hard copy letter from them…if accepted…I know they cannot send it now, but I wonder if they can send later.

Good lucks everyone. If this is your finals week, even more good lucks to you.

I’m just wondering, how many transfer students applied to Columbia this year? How do you guys think?

my best guess is 2000-3000 range because the deadline for columbia is very late so im sure there are a lot of applicants ;-; @blackarrow

Hey dont worry about the hard-copy. Usually there’s an option for “download pdf” where you can access the digital letter and you can print it thereon.

They’d probably mail it if it wasn’t for the virus, but I guess they assume you should print it yourself for now

If I didn’t get a request for additional info or any kind of “likely” sign from them that may be interested should I just accept that I’m getting rejected. Don’t want to get my hopes up

Is it easier to transfer into Columbia college or Columbia engineering (which has the higher acceptance rate?) anyone know?

i heard from a friend that apparently if you’re able to sign into this website it means you were accepted: https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/welcome/login?destination=node/1. neither my friend nor i are able to sign in. this is the welcome page that all accepted students can sign into when they are admitted. it would be really helpful to hear if other students are able to sign in

I can’t sign in either, but I don’t think this means that we were rejected.

cant sign in! lollll

it doesn’t make sense for columbia to have a loophole like that… i think just waiting it out till Friday is our best bet

did anyone else not submit a transfer report/college report?

This same link was on the Columbia 2019 Transfer thread. Didn’t work back then for any people.

Hey, y’all! I was reading Columbia’s application checklist on their site and it says to not send in your high school transcripts because it was discouraged for transfer applications but on the Coalition Application, we were forced to input out high school grades. I got a 3.1 in high school and a 4.0 at CC but I’m worried the high school GPA will get me rejected.

Do you know how much they weigh HS GPA for transfer applicants? I had really strong essays and EC’s

Anyone reapplying next year if they’re rejected?

@turi619 yeah I have the same feeling too. I have a 3.4 HS gpa but 4.0 college gpa
sophomore transfer btw

Is anyone else confused that the email states that Columbia would “post all available decisions” on Friday? This to me reads as though they might roll some decisions or have not finalized a decision to everyone.

@brightplaces Probably an unintended implication. Unless there are folks who didn’t submit a full application or haven’t submitted requested information.

It says on the portal “admissions decisions will be available” at that time, though on the email it uses the language you indicated. I would assume all will be released. I feel like they would specify if it was rolling in any way.
