My hopes are pretty low but we’ll see what happens!
@gabsPL Nice! what college do you currently attend? Yea I applied to USC as well! Unfortunately, I couldn’t apply to any UCs because I am a freshman right now and I don’t have enough credits.
I‘ve just logged back into my Coalition account just to check how sh***y my Columbia app was, and I’m cringing so hard!!! I can’t wait to get my rejection letter so that I can get this out of my head LMAO
@teenybee I did the same thing too and I know exactly how you’re feeling but it’s probably the waiting/anxiety that’s making us feel this way! You got this!
@hsc927 Thank you thank you ? I really regret not spending a lot of time on my application… but oh well… I guess it is what it is, hahaha. Good luck to you!!
@teenybee I also did the same thing and I found a grammar mistake in one of my supplements that for some reason I didn’t notice so woot rejection let’s go!! But honestly, there’s nothing we can do now but wait. good luck :))
@teenybee@waterfalls723 I was panicking because I couldn’t see my main Why Transfer essay in the generated PDF but I realized we had to attach a separate personal statement file when we applied haha
I would very much like for this application process to be OVER.
does anyone know if Columbia rescinds transfer acceptances because of grades? I had a 4.0 cumulative gpa at the time of applying (I’m a rising sophomore) but with the pandemic and moving out and everything my GPA is getting dragged down to a 3.68 overall
not that I’m getting in lol but on the chance I do that would be such a let down to get rescinded
Yes, Columbia reserves the right to rescind any type of acceptance. I don’t think we have too much documented cases of Columbia rescinding transfer admissions, but this is what they say on their general FAQ:
"If a candidate is offered admission, Columbia reserves the right to withdraw that offer of admission if:
The candidate shows a significant drop in academic performance or fails to graduate.
The candidate has misrepresented himself or herself in the application process.
We learn that candidate has engaged in behavior prior to matriculation that indicates a serious lack of judgment or integrity.
The candidate is holding both a place at Columbia and a place in the first-year class of a college other than Columbia after the May 1 deadline.
Columbia further reserves the right to require the applicant to provide additional information (and/or authorization for the release of information) about any such matter."
In your case, I think what this means is that most likely, if Columbia feels that your academic performance dropped too much since applying, they may ask you to provide information on that. In my personal opinion, a college 3.68 GPA isn’t too bad given the pandemic, so if they ask you about that, they will definitely take the pandemic into account. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless it gets worse.
