COLUMBIA TRANSFER: Fall 2020

@sadgjhkdsh - looks like both waitlists and acceptances increased but dont quote me on that - im just judging based on how many there are

Got in!!! Rising junior

Major: Stat/CS
T20 school
College GPA: 3.92 (4.00 in math/cs)
ACT: 1580
Main EC: Good tech internships

Stats for yall + future people!

Accepted SEAS for CS
HS GPA: 3.90
College GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1500
49 credits completed by end of spring sem
Midterm Report: 4.0
Essays: Spent a lot of time and then and think they were pretty good
Private schools emphasize holistic admissions so stats aren’t everything!

Transferring from a California CC after 1 year

I think this thread is just a very small portion of people applying so that’s why it seems like they accepted more people

does anyone else not see their transfer credit evaluation on their status page?

ā€œYour name has been placed on a waitlist of students to be considered for admission should vacancies occur later this springā€ does everyone who got waitlisted get this?? Does this have to with the fact that I’m an international student or something?

did***

Are waitlists as brutal for transfer as they are for freshman admissions or are they more realistic?

ACCEPTED COLUMBIA

sophomore status
took most credits
dean called me Monday to ask about some courses so I had an idea
1580 SAT
4.0 college gpa from Ivy

Anyone join the facebook yet? If you want stats PM me

@columbian69420 where is the fb link?

Does anyone know how many people were accepted this year and how many people applied?

Accepted to SEAS for CS

Sophomore Status
HS GPA: 3.7
College GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1470
ECs: FAANG internship, lots of clubs
Essays: Pretty good, last year when I applied my essays were really robotic so this year I made them fun.

Yall wanna make a GroupMe for all the admitted kids?

there’s also a facebook, the link should be in your letter.

GOT IN!! Honestly didn’t expect this loll.

Rising sophomore
Major: applied as Math & Philosophy major but am still kind of undecided at heart lol
Top 20 University: 3.95 GPA
HS: 3.88 GPA
Recs should be solid
Put lots of efforts into the essays
And my ECs are kind of all over the place—but nothing really spectacular in my opinion
(I applied RD during college apps and got waitlisted… Not sure if that matters tho)

All in all, I’m really surprised! Happy too.

Congratulations to all that got in! And if you didn’t, don’t let it discourage you! These admission decisions can be kind of random at times. Good luck!

@ivysky I think we applied to a few similar schools for transfer. I got rejected by Brown but accepted to UChicago and Northwestern. I’m deciding between UChi and Columbia. Do you know where you are going next fall?

@Severus2013 I’m also a rising sophomore! As for my plans for next fall, I’m not sure either. Both are amazing schools and I think I would have to think more on it. And congratulations!

We worked immensely hard everyone! I was rejected but let’s not forget our worth! This is definitely a redirection moreso than a rejection.

ā€œYour name has been placed on a waitlist of students to be considered for admission should vacancies occur later this springā€ Did everyone get this in their waitlist letter??

@transferrrrr66 yes
