have you guys sent sat/act scores to RD colleges yet? I don’t know whether to send them now and potentially waste the money if I get accepted to Columbia or wait until Columbia releases decisions
@bagelboy locked in my room alone lol
@mxrxsxa i think it kinda depends on what kind of applicant you think you are. i’ve read some posts about people who applied early to other schools that already sent their scores to their RD schools because they didn’t really believe they were competitive enough to get in to their ED college. i guess that’s kinda pessimistic in a way, but i can see where they’re coming from (especially with all the tiny acceptance rates). if you follow that route then i’d say do whatever you feel is right according to your own (perceived) competitiveness :)>-
@mxrxsxa I sent mine already just in case. They typically take around 2 weeks to be recieved by colleges. I just did it because waiting until Columbia releases decisions seems a little close for comfort.
@heywassaphello lol, mine was yday and i literally just stopped dancing all of a sudden cuz i remembered columbia decisions came out in less than a week
@mxrxsxa I’m waiting mainly cuz even if there is a slim chance of me getting in, I rather not waste money. Plus, some colleges, including Columbia and Rutgers (the only 2 apps i submitted so far), don’t have their due date for scores until a good 2 weeks after the actual application date
@mxrxsxa and they say that it takes 2 weeks for the scores to send but they really dont. It all depends on how fast they get to u. I sent columbia my scores and a week later I sent Rutgers them and both columbia and rutgers got my scores on the same day.
only took 4 days for rutgers
Is anyone apart of National Academy of Finance?
@jc2850 No, are you? Are you applying for Economics or Financial Economics?
@dogoogii Yeah I am, and I actually applied for business and political science.
@bagelboy I’ll actually be at a Christmas party when decisions are released… debating either waiting it out (it ends at 8), or checking in the bathroom XD
I’ll be at weightlifting from 7-8:30p, but I’ll be checking via my cell for sure since I get there early. My parents are leaving it to me to check, but if I want them around I’ll let them know and we can check together.
I’m gonna die this week y’all… I have an IA due on Thursday and another one due on Friday, plus my EE is due on Friday as well.
Thursday was NOT a good day for me to get my decision because lord knows if I get rejected I won’t be able to do anything for the rest of the night.
What is an IA and EE? @mooseyellow
IB Stuff lol
IA’s (internal assessments) are ~2000 word papers that count for 20-25% of your IB grade
The EE (extended essay) is a 4000 word paper that you have to pass to get the IB diploma
@mooseyellow Ohhh. That’s kind of similar to AP Seminar and Research.
@mysticmangoqueen i’d probably say wait until your christmas party ends. if the decision isn’t favorable, you wouldn’t wanna ruin your happiness at the party! let yourself enjoy one last event with friends before plunging into the world of college admissions haha
ever since i submitted in mid-october, i’ve been pretty pessimistic and negative about my chances, and i’m sure everyone has had similar experiences. however, i’ve made it a personal goal this final week to be more positive and optimistic about getting in and all of that. i encourage you all to do the same and so we can share reasons why we think columbia WILL accept us, and not paranoid reasons as to why we think we’re getting rejected! hopefully that’ll boost all of our self esteems and make us feel better going into decisions
for example, i think columbia WILL accept me because of my strong scores, my somewhat funny and quirky essay, my unique supplements, and my strong work within the field of human rights. if columbia doesn’t accept me, i know i WILL find somewhere else to be happy *-
what about you guys? no matter how small it is, i’d like to hear your positive hopes !! (and no negative ones!)
@1984ad omg you’re going for human rights? so am I!!!
I think Columbia WILL accept me because of my genuine passion that was exhibited in all the aspects of my application, my numerous leadership positions in prestigious extracurriculars, and strong test scores. If I do happen to get a rejection, then I was DESTINED to be an amazing student elsewhere.
@1984ad Awesome thinking!
I think CU WILL accept me because of my research in nanoscience, unique essay, interesting background, and awards!
@morocco965 cool! i think our major is rather small, so maybe that’ll help us in the long run haha :))
