Columbia University ED Class of 2022

I think Columbia WILL accept me because of my unique essays, amazing and consistent GPA, extraordinary supplement material, my personality that was portrayed through my essays, my leadership position in so many extracurriculars, my merit achievements in various national and international competitions my love for the field I have applied to.

I’ve been lurking for the past couple of days (lol sorry), and I decided I’d finally post because positive thinking is such a great idea!

I think Columbia WILL accept me because of my long-term commitment to choir and orchestra, my musical achievements, my desire to continue exploring, my impressive transcript, and my personal statements.

I think Columbia will accept all of YOU because of the hard work and determination you’ve demonstrated to the admissions committee. All of you guys should be extremely proud of yourselves!! No matter the outcome of December 14th, I believe we will all be successful in the paths we travel. I believe we all will make the most out of these results as we continue learning and growing.

As the East High Wildcats once said, “We’re all in this together.”

Congrats everyone!

@mysticmangoqueen. I disagree with 1984ad. If you get in, the party will be that much more enjoyable. If you don’t, you’ll be surrounded by a support group and too distracted to wallow in self pity if are so inclined.

I believe Columbia will accept me because of my strong test scores, my class rank, and my music and athletic achievements.

If I am not selected, I’ll be glad to have skirted the misfortune of going to a school administered by poor decision makers

I was reading this thing that said the culture in denmark tended to be more negative, but then they exceed their expectations more and aren’t disappointed as much. That’s honestly what I’ve been trying to do. Just keeping my expectations low and maybe getting surprised. I kind of see it like the lottery. You can’t really be too sad if you lose, but if you win it is incredible.

@notlimah_hsirrap i think thats a good philosophy to have! but since our decisions are already decided and we cant affect them in any way, it might be good to spread a little happiness around the thread

@1984ad Yeah I feel ya :slight_smile:

also i just checked and apparently ive made 222 out of the 927 posts on this thread =)) that’s like 25% of the posts! i need to start doing something else :))

Hey guys first time on here! I know this may seem blunt and stupid, but we all know they pay attention to our racial background and I wanted your opinion on mine: I’m Native American and besides “Other,” that’s Columbia’s lowest ethnicity of their class (3% for class of 2021). I was wondering if you guys think that it’ll help me more since Columbia is always known as one of the most diverse colleges and since they have such a low Native American class it’ll help my chances. I know it’s stupid to play my chances on race, but I’ll take anything I can get :((

I think Columbia WILL accept me because of my high test scores, a plethora of community service activities, extracurriculars and leadership positions, high class rank, my sociable personality, my openness about being a feminist (I’m a guy), and my diversity in skills by excelling both in Math and Visual Arts (all types) which are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

If I don’t get into Columbia it’s just a sign that my choice to ED to Columbia College rather than Wharton or Stern for financial economics was wrong. Plus I kinda like the NYU purple color more than the Columbia blue color. Plus idk how I like being a Lannister (Any Game of Thrones fans out there?).

Tho saying “Columbia Blue 2022” seems to flow better than “NYU 2022”

@emf247 if your race is all that you have going for you, then columbia will simply not accept you. it helps, but only if you’re already a pretty stellar applicant because nothing can “make up” for really bad scores, GPA, ECs, etc

@birjudhaduk even though i like Columbia more i think NYU 2022 flows better haha :))

I think Columbia WILL accept me because of my high test scores, success in rigorous courses, interesting and well-written CA personal statement, good supplements, and meaningful ECs.

And thank you @1984ad for trying to spread positivity and motivation into this thread!

I was in NYC all day today for unrelated Columbia reasons, and all I could think about was how I will know in 4 days if this will be my home for the next 4 years. Even though I am not expecting an acceptance (although hoping for one), my excitement for the decisions keeps growing (along with the anxiety).

I’ve been reading this thread for the past couple days and it’s been therapeutic in a way for dealing with all the anxiousness (thanks guys). Also I like the positivity idea so I decided to post.

I think I will get into Columbia University on Thursday because of my outstanding personal statement, impressive rec letters by faculty I’m really close with, my position as editor-in-chief for my school newspaper, being a first generation student, and the dedication I’ve shown to diversity and equity in my application (I’m black and Mexican so that’s influenced a lot of my ECs). If Thursday doesn’t work out for me, I’m expecting good news from Tulane the week after, and no matter what I know all of us will end up at great schools in the long run.

Again, this thread has been so stress relieving for me these past few days, thanks everyone for all the positivity!

Idk whether this is too soon or not but I just made the results thread for Thursday!

Not used to the positivity but here goes nothing…
I think I WILL get into Columbia because of my strong extracurriculars (and my dedication to them), my ambition to take rigorous classes since freshman year, and my compelling personal statement and supplements. However, even if I don’t I am still applying to many colleges that I will be extremely happy at (well…really only NYU but whatever) and it just shows that I wouldn’t be a fit at Columbia - not that I wasn’t good enough.

ahhhh im getting super stressed! i cant wait for thursday; everyone around me has been super supportive and encouraging too and it would hurt me to have to let them down!

Does anyone know how many people they admit to Columbia College? For class of 2021 they had 1456 SEAS and CC admitted, but I wonder how many ppl for CC alone.

I will get into Columbia because of my academic class rigor, taking two languages, my genuine passion for learning and my ambition to become a life time learner, contintly positive attitude, my great alumni interview, extra curricular activities (very motivated and devoted to each) most with a pretty good officer roll, my personal statement essay and supplementary essays which exhibit my love of Columbia.
If I don’t then CU was not for me and I will probably study in China because thats where I belong in my undergraduate years, either Beijing or Shanghai.
Either way it’s gonna be lit!
