My parents want me to go to my sister’s winter concert on Thursday night that is right in the middle of decisions being released and I want to support her, but at the same time I’ll be dying if I don’t know my decision ASAP.

@AcademiaSavvy Fun fact: last year the ivy (RD) release dates were durng my school’s midterms, so I made a decision that I wouldn’t check them until after my midterms were over—I knew if I was accepted I would gain a severe case of senioritis and not care about my midterms and I knew if I was rejected I would be upset and not care about my midterms. I ended up forgetting about them completely and I don’t think I checked my portal until April 6 lol.
hey everyone! just wanted to pop in and introduce myself since I’ve been lurking on this thread since day 1 lol. decisions are coming up sooooon but the wait feels like an eternity :(( anyways I’m just a gal from suburban North Carolina and Columbia has been my dream since I was 10! my second choice would be UChicago or honestly any good school near a city. Brown also has the good vibes I’m looking for.
Columbia WILL accept me despite my 1440 SAT because of my 5.0+ GPA, rigorous course load, amazing leadership in Beta Club, Student Council, and Best Buddies, my 800+ hours of community service, dedication to helping my local Hispanic community by volunteering at a non-profit, my summers spent at Governor’s school and MIT’s MOSTEC, my backstory growing up in disarray and yet prevailing as a successful student, my distinct passion for social sciences and political activism, my well-researched “why columbia” essay, my bomb common app essay, and my status as a national hispanic scholar.
