Does anyone know when most people got the course information mailed to them last year?
Hey, got the letter…but it doesn’t mention anything about the courses…or does it (I don’t see anything)? What exactly are we doing with the letter?
Maybe read it and find out?
@Frigidcold Haha I have …so I just take it that no course information is given at the moment?
You won’t get any course information until probably early September. The website will be updated at that time to show the fall offerings. You will be asked to list your top three choices and you will find out the first day of the program what course you got in.
@zenith99 “In late Auguest we will send you a description of the specific courses to be offered in the fall”.
Ah thanks @Falcon1 and @Frigidcold , somehow I missed that sentence :-/
Hmm it seems the challenge has heavy weight
rising sophomore:
Result: Accepted
Easy Math: 49/50
Science: 70/75
Challenge: 15/15
To be honest, the challenge was a bit disappointing compared to the expected AMC 10 level…
Anyways can’t wait to meet you all!
Got in second try!
Rising junior
49 easy math
65 (give or take) science
13 challenge math
All other parts of application were decent
Rejected on the first try (rising junior - school starts in a few days ahahah)
49: Easy math
50-55: Science (hadn’t taken any bio or earth science, and probably got all of those wrong)
12-13: Challenge Math
Grades weren’t amazing because of freshman year. However, seeing that I got good grades during my sophomore year, I hope that I can get another chance to be accepted as a rising senior.
Anyone have any advice about studying for the science portion, and possibly the challenge math? If i got the science up to a 60 or so, and maybe the challenge math to a 13 (idk if I got this, but I may have), I feel that I woulda had a better chance of being accepted.
Thanks everyone!
Hey, so course selections are up! Anyone have any advice on the classes (or if there’s another thread/anyone making a new thread for that, please let me know )? Thanks!
@roboticsnerd33 I think you should focus mostly on science; the challenge math is not really easy to study (although if you go through the thread there are some examples that you should try). Honestly I would just keep up with whatever your current science class is (hopefully bio) and just retain that information. Maybe the night or two before the test brush up on some chem and physics. Hope that’ll help you! (And it’s not that I necessarily did well on the science portion myself, though I knew pretty much all the bio from my AP Bio class, and took a class freshman year called Intro to Chem & Physics which also slightly helped, as opposed to my arbitrary last-minute studying).
Is anyone taking any Biology courses? Cuz I might be in your Human Phisiology class.
My first two choices are:
Fabrication of Classical and Quantum Computing Devices
Experiments in Modern Physics
Guys does anyone get kicked out for bad attendance?
@kayjay88 I’ve read this entire thread, and people do get kicked out for attendance stuff
My top choices are:
Experiments in Genetics and Molecular Biology
Organic Chemistry
Neuroscience
Nanotechnology
I guess I’m going pretty mainstream here.
Anyone else commuting from NJ? Would greatly appreciate knowing if you do
They DEFINITELY kick people out for bad attendance. You get two excused absences and two unexcused absences. No exceptions.
@Falcon1 I thought it was 4 excused?
It’s not, it’s two.
