Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

I go to Livingston High School. No one from my school is taking the test on the 6th.

I go to RHS and I’m taking it on the 27th. A stupid idea to take it later. Should’ve just chose 6th…I’m in pupin hall.. Anyone else???

Im rlly scared for the test..I really want to get in

Oh that’s great! Hey well I’ll see you there!

I’m also from Livingston High School and I’m taking the test on the 6th too.

Havemeyer Hall anyone?

Pupin Hall. How are all prepping for test?

A lot of people (even from this discussion) have said that it is impossible to prepare for this test. I would like a few tips if anyone has some though.

Also, what’s an approximate guessing penalty?

So I have a family member who took the exam and got in a little while back. They said to study the NY HS regent exams for all four sciences.

How did u all think.of the todays test?

What answers did yall get for the advanced questions or are we not allowed to discuss

I think i got
50/50 - Section 1
60-65/75 - Section 2
15/15 - Section 3

Do I have a good shot or is my science score too low? I left 5 blank..

I’m taking the test on the 27th and I’m a freshman, we haven’t done Geometry yet or Trig in school…We are still on Al 2.

Also, the only course in the sciences that we have done so far is Biology.

Is it fine to only study bio because how can they expect us to know an entire course on our own when they say we need no “specialized preparation?”

For the Hard Math section, what level of AMC math do they ask (8, 10, 12)? I know some of AMC 10, but math is not my forte.

Thanks!

(PS: If you guys took the test on April 6th 2019, how was the advanced math section?)

You should def study the other subjects – there is a variety of questions from Chemistry, ES, and Physics. The hard math section is not more like high AMC 8 (23-25) and low AMC 10 (1-10, maybe 1-15 tops). I took the test today, I found the advanced section pretty easy.

Good luck!

(Edit: You should definitely study some Geometry and Algebra 2, as they might pop up on either of the math sections)

My D took it yestersay and there were not many Bio questions.. i am sure there are few different versions of test.

Do you think I have any chances?
48/50 - Section 1 (I might have gotten one wrong and I paced myself terribly so I had to leave one blank)
60/75 - Section 2 (I haven’t taken physics yet)
15/15 - Section 3

my science is a big rip especially since im a junior but idk

@eipiequalneg1
we probs shouldn’t discuss answers just in case

I’m a freshman, and I have only learned Bio. According to Thinkbigger, I’m pretty much screwed, as my math isn’t strong either. What types of Chem/Phy do I need to know?

I’m sophomore – I think that you should study basic mechanics and waves. Chemistry, maybe watch some live solves of the NYS Chemistry Regents and search up the concepts you had no idea about.
